HI guys...The first sympton i came across was my desktop image was replaced with a solid blue color. Then when I restarted my computer would go into a wierd safe mode, even though i never hit F8. The background (in the wierd looking safe mode) reads you have spyware you need an antivirus program to remove it (or something to that nature) I tried running superantivirus but then it rebooted itself again during the scan....im so lost i dont know what to do. The only thing I was able to do was get a hijack log.

Hopefully someone can help me

Hi there,

Welcome to GeeksToGo. My name is RatHat, and I will help you get through the process of cleaning the malware from your computer. Now I am guessing that you used another computer to post your log here, and that you have a means of transferring files to the infected computer while it is in Safe Mode, so please download all the tools I ask you to to the flash drive, or what ever means you are using to transfer files, then copy them to the infected computer and run them as outlined.

OK firstly, I need you to follow my instructions in the order that they are given. If however, you cannot carry out one of them, please continue on with the next and let me know what you were unsuccessful with.

Next, I would like to make sure that you can view hidden files and folders;
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • Under the Hidden files and folders heading SELECT Show hidden files and folders.
  • UNCHECK the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
  • UNCHECK the Hide extensions for known file types option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now while you are in safe mode, reopen HijackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.
O2 - BHO: BitComet ClickCapture - {39F7E362-828A-4B5A-BCAF-5B79BFDFEA60} - C:\Program Files\BitComet\tools\BitCometBHO_1.2.2.28.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [lphcp8oj0ec6j] C:\WINDOWS\system32\lphcp8oj0ec6j.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SMrhct8oj0ec6j] C:\Program Files\rhct8oj0ec6j\rhct8oj0ec6j.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sysrest32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\sysrest32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SMshcv8oj0ec6j] C:\Program Files\shcv8oj0ec6j\shcv8oj0ec6j.exe
O9 - Extra button: BitComet - {D18A0B52-D63C-4ed0-AFC6-C1E3DC1AF43A} - res://C:\Program Files\BitComet\tools\BitCometBHO_1.2.2.28.dll/206 (file missing)
Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Close HiJackThis.
Please go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove any P2P programs you have installed, Bitcomet, Limewire, uTorrent etc.
Using Windows Explorer (to get there right-click your Start button and go to "Explore"), please delete these folders (if present):
C:\Program Files\BitComet
C:\Program Files\rhct8oj0ec6j
C:\Program Files\shcv8oj0ec6j
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\rhct8oj0ec6j
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\shcv8oj0ec6j
Using Windows Explorer (to get there right-click your Start button and go to "Explore"), please delete these files (if present):
C:\WINDOWS\system32\sysrest32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\lphcp8oj0ec6j.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\phcp8oj0ec6j.bmp
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Download SDFix and transfer it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Now while still in Safe Mode:
  • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
    (Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
  • Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Close all other windows before proceeding.
  • Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When it has finished, DSS will open two Notepad files: main.txt and extra.txt
  • Use Save As to save both Notepad files to your Desktop and post them in your next reply.
Note: A copy of these files can be found in you root drive, usually C:\Deckard\System Scanner\
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So in your next reply, please include the following logs:
  • The contents of the SDFix Report.txt
  • The contents of DSS main.txt
  • The contents of DSS extra.txt

Note that you may have to split your reply into two posts to ensure that all the logs are complete.

Regards,
RatHat

That's looking better! I see you are back in normal mode, how is the machine running?

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove,you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts,click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer,please do so immediately.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi there,
If you cannot get Kaspersky to run, and this happens sometimes, run an F-Secure online scan for Viruses, Spyware and RootKits:
  • Go to http://support.f-sec.../home/ols.shtml
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Start scanning button. A window will pop up.
  • Allow the Active X control to be installed on your computer, then click the Accept button
  • Click Full System Scan and allow the components to download and the scan to complete.
  • If malware is found, check Submit samples to F-Secure then select Automatic cleaning
  • When cleaning has finished, click Show report (this will open an Internet Explorer window containing the report)
  • Highlight and Copy (CTRL + C) the complete report, and Paste (CTRL + V) in a new reply to this post
If Automatic cleaning with Submit samples hangs, click Cancel, then New Scan
  • When the cleaning option is presented, Uncheck Submit samples to F-Secure
  • Click Automatic cleaning
  • When cleaning has finitished, click Show report (this will open an Internet Explorer window containing the report)
  • Highlight and Copy (CTRL + C) the complete report, and Paste (CTRL + V) in a new reply to this post
Notes:
  • This scan will only work with Internet Explorer
  • You must have administrator rights to run this scan
  • This scan can take a while, so please be patient
RatHat
OK, lets make sure we've got rid of those files. Please download OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it.
Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):
C:\DOWNLOADS\VUE 6 INFINITE\VUE V6.0.5 INFINITE + KEYGEN\KEYGEN.EXE
C:\DOWNLOADS\VUE 6 INFINITE\VUE V6.0.5 INFINITE + KEYGEN\CD1\VUE6A\MAGNITUDE\KEYGEN.EXE
C:\ADAM\PROGRAMS\ADOBE__AFTER_EFFECTS__CS3_INKL._PLUGIN-PACK___CRACK+SERIAL\PLUGIN-PACK\PROFOUND EFFECTS USEFUL THINGS V1.5 FOR ADOBE AFTER EFFECTS\KEYGEN\KEYGEN.EXE
C:\ADAM\HOUSE\OZONE_KEYGEN.EXE
C:\ADAM\HOUSE\IZOTOPE.OZONE.DX.VST.RTAS.V3.04.INCL.KEYGEN-H2O\OZONE_KEYGEN.EXE
G:\ADAM\PROGRAMS\AHEAD.NERO.BURNING.ROM.V6.6.0.14.ULTRA.EDITION.WINALL.INCL.KEYMAKER-CORE\KEYGEN.EXE
G:\ADAM\PROGRAMS\MIRC.6.14.WITH.KEYGEN.BY-.NEAL3\KEYGEN.EXE
C:\ADAM\PROGRAMS\ADOBE__AFTER_EFFECTS__CS3_INKL._PLUGIN-PACK___CRACK+SERIAL\PLUGIN-PACK\BORIS CONTINUUM COMPLETE V4.0 FOR ADOBE AFTER EFFECTS\PATCH\BCC4_CRK.EXE
Return to OTMoveIt, right click on the "Paste List of Files/Folders to be moved" window and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Open Notepad, and copy everything in the Results window to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy).
  • Save the Notepad file to your Desktop as OTM.txt.
  • Close OTMoveIt
Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.
Please include the contents of OTM.txt in your next reply.
By the way, Keygens and cracks are the surest way to get infected nowadays. There are file infectors that are attached to Keygens and cracks that once into your machine, will infect all executable files, and leave reformatting as the only option. I would advise you not to download any more.
OK, post me the contents of OTM.txt, along with a fresh HijackThis log, and let me know how your computer is behaving now.
Regards,
RatHat
Keygens, cracks and P2P programs are a recipe for disaster. Almost all infections come from these sources, and of course spam email.
Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.
O9 - Extra button: BitComet - {D18A0B52-D63C-4ed0-AFC6-C1E3DC1AF43A} - res://C:\Program Files\BitComet\tools\BitCometBHO_1.2.2.28.dll/206 (file missing)
Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Close HiJackThis. Reboot.
Run a full scan with MBAM after updating it's definitions.:
  • Click the Update tab
  • Click Check for Updates and follow the prompts
  • If MBAM needs to restart, allow this, then perform a full scan
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove,you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts,click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer,please do so immediately.
Also let me know if you are having any more problems with this computer.
Regards,
RatHat
