I have a rather annoying problem. I have Windows Vista Ultimate, with Sony Vegas, and my trust Sony DCR-HC40 Handycam. Sounds pretty nice, doesn't it? Well, it is. Except for the fact that they are not working together in unison. This camera came out around the time of XP SP 2, and Sony's website does not offer much help driver or software-wise ... unless you have your original disc (with serial code on it). Well - it was a Christmas present over 5+ years ago, and I'm sorry Sony, but I just don't have that disc. And you could at least tell me if there is an updated driver out there somewhere for the camera! I went to a random driver-selling website and purchased the original XP Driver and PDF File Format version of the original owner's manual (which is worth crock).
The Driver is an XP driver, so I set it for compatibility mode and it did install, but my PC still does not recognize the device (very well) and will not capture video.
I'm really just trying to get the PC to capture the video streaming from the camera like it should.
Making movies is my passion, and this setup is hurting that. Is there anybody out there that can help me? Anything is appreciated.
Thanks,
Daniel
