Have you tried another video player as I will need to determine if it is a generic or specific fault

It is a generic fault. I tried wmplayer and real player but they still drive the cpu usage up to 100%.

There is another weird problem going on. A certain svchost.exe i mentioned in the previous time is driving up my cpu usage to 100%. I've attached the screenshot below.

Another peculiar problem just occurred. Photoshop took about 5 mins to open instead of the usual <1 because of the max CPU usage. However, after completely loading photoshop, the svchost.exe dropped its cpu usage to the old common. My computer is no longer lagging nor using up such high cpu usage. This is very very weird.

I'm sorry for having so much problems down here!

I really thank you alot for trying so hard there! =)

OK reflection on previous posts shows that you are on the edge for memory and your hard drive is a tad full

So lets try and remedy that and see if that helps

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
This program is for XP, Vista and Windows 2000 onlyDouble-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browserClick Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browserClick Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
For Technical Support, double-click the e-mail address located at the bottom of each menu.

THEN

1. Select Start > All Programs > Accessories > System tools > Disk Cleanup.
2. In the Drop down box that appears select your main drive e.g. C
3. Click OK
4. The System will do some calculation and the display a dialogue box with TABS
5. Select the More Options Tab.
6. At the bottom will be a system restore box with a CLEANUP button click this
7. Accept the Warning and select OK again, the program will close and you are done

FINALLY FOR NOW

Download and run Auslogics Disc Defragmenter

Let me know if that helps any

I have cleaned up my computer and ran the defragmenter. My C drive now has up to 12 gig of empty space. However, the problem of windows live messenger and video playbacks still persist. Other than these two problems, everything is perfectly fine.

I am able to play games that supposedly take up more ram than those 2 programmes.

Do you need me to run anymore scans?

It might be related to this problem i had a year back:
http://www.geekstogo...406#entry976406

If you don't mind taking a look. Thanks alot alot =)

OK next could you go here and update your drivers http://www.nvidia.co...aspx?lang=en-us select Option 2 Graphics drivers. Let me know if that makes a difference

One thing though is this My Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 6200, 256MB Shared Ram.

as you are sharing ram from your main system then video intensive programmes which also require a lot of main memory may run slow. It might be worth updating to a dedicated video card

A few tips coming up .. Some now and some at the end

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Synchronization Manager] mobsync.exe /logon
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [nwiz] nwiz.exe /install
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvCplDaemon] RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINNT\system32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Adobe Photo Downloader] "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Album Starter Edition\3.2\Apps\apdproxy.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PaperPort PTD] C:\Program Files\Scansoft\PaperPort\pptd40nt.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IndexSearch] C:\Program Files\Scansoft\PaperPort\IndexSearch.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SetDefPrt] C:\Program Files\Brother\Brmfl03a\BrStDvPt.exe
O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-19\..\RunOnce: [^SetupICWDesktop] C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Connection Wizard\icwconn1.exe /desktop (User 'LOCAL SERVICE')
O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-19\..\RunOnce: [tscuninstall] %systemroot%\system32\tscupgrd.exe (User 'LOCAL SERVICE')
O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-20\..\RunOnce: [^SetupICWDesktop] C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Connection Wizard\icwconn1.exe /desktop (User 'NETWORK SERVICE')
O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-18\..\RunOnce: [^SetupICWDesktop] C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Connection Wizard\icwconn1.exe /desktop (User 'SYSTEM')
O4 - HKUS\.DEFAULT\..\RunOnce: [^SetupICWDesktop] C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Connection Wizard\icwconn1.exe /desktop (User 'Default user')
O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Gamma Loader.lnk = C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Calibration\Adobe Gamma Loader.exe
O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Reader Speed Launch.lnk = C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader\reader_sl.exe

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Close HiJackThis.

If you find that you need some of these at start then you can restore them via Hijackthis backup

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean :)

Double click OTScanit once again and you should see a CleanUp! button, press that button, you may get prompted by your firewall that OTScanit wants to contact the internet, allow this, a cleanup.txt will be downloaded, a message dialog will ask you if you want to proceed with the cleanup process, click Yes. This will delete all the tools you have downloaded plus itself.

Now to get you off to a good start we will re-set your restore points so that all the bad stuff is gone for good. Then if you need to restore at some stage you will be clean. There are several ways to reset your your restore point but this is my method:

1. Select Start > All Programs > Accessories > System tools > System Restore.
2. On the dialogue box that appears select Create a Restore Point
3. Click NEXT
4. Enter a name e.g. Clean
5. Click CREATE

You now have a clean restore point, to get rid of the bad ones:

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free program: It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated.

To keep your operating system up to date visit

To learn more about how to protect yourself while on the internet read our little guide How did I get infected in the first place ?
Keep safe :)

NEXT re-run ATF and then run the Auslogic defrag :)
