Received bulleting of free download for MS Office for 2007. Do have MS Office but it is MS Office 2000. Am interested in this new version as an upgrade, but have been told that anything MS now offers is configured really for Vista and to download this file may cause my PC to run much more slowly. Anyone know if this is true and to download same would cause me more problems than it is worth?

PC stats: Computer Specs:
Dell XPS400 Dimension
XP-Pro Version 2002 SP2
Pentium ® D CPU 2.80 GHz
2.79 GHz, 2.00 GB of Ram

E Drive – Sony CD-RW CRX217 E
IDE\CD Rom Sony
F Drive – HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW
GWA4164B
Video Card – Nvidia GeForce 6800
Sound Card – Sigma Tel High Defin.
Audio CODEC

Thank for any advice you have.

Hello nondaj...

Office 2007 runs just fine on XP... :)

With your machine's specs, you should notice no difference in speed...it may even be a little faster than your Office 2000 applications. With the new features included with Office 2007, it would be a very worthwhile upgrade...though it may take you a bit to get used to the new interface.
