Hey guys, my friend has a western digital External 500GB hard drive and for some reason now the computer doesnt see it? like i went threw the steps of the device manager of unistalling and re-installing and the computer says its installed but when he trys to go into the hard drive theres no folder for it, like it doesnt exist? In the device manager its there but in the my computer its not, it just shows his regular hard drive and not the external. So what can be the problem? how can i fix this? he has Vista

Go to Start, right-click Computer, then Manage. Select Disk Management from the left side: do you see the drive in this list?
Also, what is the exact name of the drive you see in Device Manager?

Okay, In the Disk manager, it says "unknown disk 1 not initialized" and in Device manager it says "WD" its a western digital 500GB.
