Network works with hub, but not with switch

Anyone have any guesses as to why a workstation would connect to the network through a hub but not through a switch? The switch is working, it's been connected to other workstations and connects fine. The workstation is connected to the hub through any of the ports 2-8, and the network connects into the uplink port. Using the uplink port on the switch and connecting the workstation to any of the ports 2-8 disconnects it from the network.

You will have to exscuse me if Im repeating but Im a little confused on your post. The issue is the hub works but the switch does not on a specific computer. If you connect the computer do the link lights glow?

If you try and ping something from the computer thats not working does the LED's flash if they are on?
