I am trying to do a clean install I have completely formatted the hard drive and installed windows 98 after it installs and boots up I get the following message. Quit one or more memory resident programs or remove unnecessary utilities from your config.sys and autoexec.bat files and restart comp. when I checked there was nothing in those files and I have all kinds of memory so why am I getting this message. Oh and also after I get this message the computer shuts down. Please help I am going crazy over this ready to throw out the window.
Thank you.

Why are you installing Windows 98? Are you aware you named this topic "windows xp problem" in the Windows XP forums?

Yes I am aware what Topic I posted in The reason for windows 98 is because I can not get my windows xp cd to boot so I put 98 on the computer hoping I could install windows xp over it but nothing seems to work. Also to add from my earlier post I get the message NTLDR missing hit ctrl alt delete to restart comp. then it just shuts down. could you please address this and my earlier post or let someone else help me that isn't worried about where I post. Thank you. I don't mean to be a B---- but this has really got me frustrated any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
