My father called me the other day and said his computer was not working. I tried to get onto the computer and go to the task manager. The one thing I could not get to stop was a zumie.exe file. I came home and have been doing research and found this is malware.
The geek squad wants him to bring it in for 130.00 they said they can fix this..but if I can save him the money and fix it myself I will. I am just as a loss on how to do this.
He resently downloaded a spyware scanner called Macs secure and CCleaner. I do not know of any other recently downloads.
Since I can't get into the control panel or run his scans I don't know what to do.
Is there anything I can do?

Welcome to GTG.

You mean his desktop is not showing up then? Do you know your way around the command prompt? You can open the command prompt from the Task Manager and run the scans there....

Please read this topic and post your HijackThis log here when ready.
