I wanna chat, but firefox won't let me

I have Mozilla Firefox on my computer. Whenever I enter a chat room, or at least try to, firefox becomes unresponsive. The screen freezes up for a little and then this submit feedback thing comes up, why can't I chat???? Is there a way around it.
