Hi there,

You are running two antiviruses, avast and AVG - you'll need to uninstall one of them, having more than one running just lowers your protection and your computers performance.
You'll also need to temporarily disable ad-aware, take a look here for instructions http://wiki.castleco...toring_Programs

Download the HostsXpert 3.7 - Hosts File Manager.
  • Unzip HostsXpert 3.7 - Hosts File Manager to a convenient folder such as C:\HostsXpert
  • Click HostsXpert.exe to Run HostsXpert 3.7 - Hosts File Manager from its new home
  • Click "Make Hosts Writable?" in the upper right corner (If available).
  • Click Restore Microsoft's Hosts file and then click OK.
  • Click the X to exit the program.
  • Note: If you were using a custom Hosts file you will need to replace any of those entries yourself.
Then,

Please go here to install the recovery console and for a guide on using combofix.
Please note: Installing the Recovery Console plays a vital part in making this process of cleaning your computer safe, don't overlook this!

Now please download combofix from here or here. It is important that you save this file to your desktop.

Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts. Please, never rename Combofix unless instructed.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a Hijack This log in your next reply.

A quick heads up, if you click on combofix's window when it's running, you may cause it to stall.

HI Mike,

Thanks for your reply. Will look into your suggestion and let you know how it goes. Any advice on which anti virus software to keep and which to get rid of?

Regards,

Karlyle

I would recommend keeping Avast! in this case, AVG is becoming a bit bloated and the newer versions aren't to nice in my opinion.

I'll wait for the logs :)

Welcome back :)

You have the Ask Toolbar installed, I would recommend you uninstall it - decide after taking a peek at this article http://www.benedelma...e/ask-toolbars/
If you choose to remove it, uninstall it and delete this folder C:\Program Files\AskPBar

You still have renmants of norton on your PC, take a look into running the norton removal tool. http://service1.syma...005033108162039

Now,

Please click Start then Run, in the window appears type in Notepad.exe.
Highlight the entire content of the codebox below. Copy (Control + C) and Paste (Control + V) the content into the notepad window:
File::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\smdsbsrv.sys
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ictxaiua.sys
C:\WINDOWS\system32\nttzapaq.sys
C:\WINDOWS\system32\xbfsbjbo.sys

Driver::
eth8023.sys
Now in Notepad, go to File and in the menu that drops down click on Save As...
Save the file as CFScript.txt

Then drag the CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe as depicted in the animation below. This will start ComboFix again.
Posted Image

After that please reboot your computer if it asks you to and post ComboFix.txt (the report the ComboFix will generate) in your next reply.

Then,

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

Post back along with a fresh hijack this log please :)

Are you familiar with Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd. ISP Division New Delhi?

You can fix this line with Hijack This:
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)

And I made a mistake in my CFscript so one of the drivers I wanted to get rid of didn´t disappear,
Open notepad, copy and paste the following in bold:

@echo off
sc stop eth8023
sc delete eth8023
del %0

Save it as delsvc.bat and on file type as ´all files´, double click on it - a black window will quickly appear and disappear and thats it.

Let´s do one last scan to make sure everything is ok.

First,

  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 7.
  • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Select your Platform and check the box that says: "I agree to the Java SE Runtime Environment 6 License Agreement.".
  • Click on Continue.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation (jre-6u7-windows-i586-p.exe) and save it to your desktop. Do NOT use the Sun Download Manager..
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java version.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on the download to install the newest version.(Vista users, right cklick on the jre-6u7-windows-i586-p.exe and select "Run as an Administrator.")

Then,

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Kaspersky online scanner uses JAVA tecnology to perform the scan. If you do not have the latest JAVA version, follow the instrutions below under Upgrading Java, to download and install the latest vesion.

  • Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
  • It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
  • When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
  • Make sure the following is checked.
    • Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
      Archives
      Mail databases
  • Click on My Computer under Scan.
  • Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
  • You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
  • Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
  • Please post this log in your next reply.

Post back with the logs and tell me how your PC is running :)
