Anyone have a clue how to see if Outlook is already running before opening a new instance. I am writting out of Access. I can open Outlook and send my emails; but if Outlook was already open when I run the code, it opens a new instance of Outlook. First I believe this is bad form, but the bigger problem is that when I close Outlook (appOl.quit), all open Outlook Applications close, leaving my end user with the annoying task of having to reopen Outlook. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Maybe something similar to the following would work for you:
Check if an Application is running

I know this deals with Excel and Lotus, but you could try it for Access and Outlook.
