Need help with sluggish computer

Hi,

I found this forum while trying to troubleshoot my problem and am praying someone can help. I recently was running Vista Home Premium and it crashed. I had my computer professional repaired (2 mos ago) they were able to install XP instead, which i was glad to have XP back. Computer was running fantastic and one recent day it just started running like it had 256mb of memory, or worse actually. I have 2 gigs of memory and intel centrino duo processors so I should be running super fast as usual. The confusing part is when i look at my system resources in the task manager I has plenty of free memory (cpu usage anywhere from 0-30%) but it just lags badly... When I open a program or window and we'll use my web broweser for example, it can take anywhere from 10 secs to 5 mins to show me a window but it opens immediately in the processes section of the task manager, so apparently its running the program but its just not opening. I run Bit Defender Antivirus plus 10 for antivirus and firewall protection and I also use spyware doctor and scan regularly and keep them updated. I ran HJT and this is the log generated. I thank anyone in advance who can give me assistance.

Hi,

Posted my HJT log about a week ago and did not get any responses. I am not an expert but I know a thing or 2 about computers I'd like to think. I personally did not see any issues with the log HJT I posted and apparently nobody else did either, thats why I did not receive any responses I am assuming. I finally figured out what my probelm was and wanted to post my solution in case anyone else incurs the same issue I had. As I noted I am running spyware doctor and bit defender antivirus plus 10 for security. The issues I was having (lagging computer) was caused by bit defender antivirus plus 10. Apparently this particular version of bit defender is NOW only compatible with windows 98/ME/NT. Originally when I bought my license it was compatible with XP and when I upgraded to vista (worst mistake I ever made) it was compatible as well. Apparently Bit Defender has released new software and never informed their customers that prior compatible versions would no longer be compatible and that their purchased licenses for antivirus plus 10 were baiscally worth $hit now. Anyways my computer is running normal again and I hope this info will help someone down the road with the same issue I had. Originally I thought Bit Defender was one of the top interenet security software programs available but if you dont inform your customers of compatibility issues for current licensed subscribers your burning bridges in my book.
