apropos, transponder.bolger, ist.xxxtoolbar - the list goes on and on. I am pulling my hair out (what little there is remaining). My system is running very slow and I feel helpless. What do I do (besides staying away from the p0rn sites - wasn't me....I swear )?

Here's my Hijack This log:

Hi chyarnell and welcome to the Geeks to Go Forums.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

My name is Trevuren and I will be helping you with your log.

1. Go to Geeks to Go
. Click on My Controls at the top right hand corner of the window. (make sure you have signed in first)
. In the left hand column, click "View Topics"
. If you click on the title of your post, you will be taken there

2. Also, while at the My Controls page, check the box to the right of your post and then scroll down.
.Where it says "unsubscribe" click the pull-down menu and select "immediate email notification"

3. Finally, I need you to place HijackThis into its own folder, not a Temp folder.
HJT needs to be in its own folder so that the program itself isn't deleted by accident. Having the backups could be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!

A. Please go to your 'My Documents' folder, right-click and select 'New > Folder' and name the folder 'HijackThis'.

B. Copy HijackThis into this newly createf folder.

C. Close ALL windows except HJT

D. SCAN with HJT and SAVE LOG. (a notepad window will open with the log in it when you click Save Log) (Ctrl-A to'select all', Ctrl-C to 'copy')

E. POST the log in this thread using 'Add Reply' (Ctrl-V to 'paste')

DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES OR CLICK "FIX CHECKED" UNTIL WE CHECK THE LOG, AS MOST OF THE FILES ARE LEGIT AND VITAL TO THE FUNCTION OF YOUR COMPUTER

Note: Your system has numerous serious infections and this is going to take us quite a bit of time to fix. So you will have to be patient and prepared to work hard.

Regards,

Trevuren

Hi chyarnell,

Hijackthis is still not in the right place so let's try this:

A. Delete the version of HijackThis that you currently have on your machine.

B. Download the most current version of Hijackthis (v.1.99.1) to a folder of its own. HJT needs to be in its own folder so that the program itself isn't deleted by accident. Having the backups could be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!

1. Please click on the "My Computer" icon, then the C: drive icon. Next Right click on the desktop and choose NEW from the list available then> Folder' and name the folder 'HijackThis'. The end result should resemble something like this C:\HijackThis\

2. Download Hijackthis from:HERE

3. Double Click on 'HijackThis.zip' to extract and install HijackThis.exe to the new folder.

4. Close ALL windows except HJT

5. SCAN with HJT and SAVE LOG. (a notepad window will open with the log in it when you click Save Log) (Ctrl-A to'select all', Ctrl-C to 'copy')

Hi chyarnell,

Good Job

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

I need to disable your Microsoft AntiSpyware Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes.

Open Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Click on Tools, Settings.
In the left pane, click on Real-time Protection.
Under Startup Options uncheck: Enable the Microsoft AntiSpyware Security Agents on startup (recommended).
Under Real-time spyware threat protection uncheck: Enable real-time spyware threat protection (recommended).
After you uncheck these, click on the Save button and close Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Right click on the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the taskbar and select Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware.

-----------------------
  • Run HijackThis. Click on "Config...", "Misc Tools", "Open process manager". Select the following files and click on "Kill process". Answer Yes to the "Are you sure..." question.
    • desktop.exe
    • edmond.exe
    • ffisearch.exe
  • Launch Notepad, and copy/paste the box below into a new text file. Save it as fixme.reg and save it on your Desktop.

    REGEDIT4

    [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\clsid\{5b4ab8e2-6dc5-477a-b637-bf3c1a2e5993}]

    [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\clsid\{950238fb-c706-4791-8674-4d429f85897e}]

    [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mfiltis]

    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\policies\ext\clsid\{5b4ab8e2-6dc5-477a-b637-bf3c1a2e5993}]

    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\enum\root\legacy_delprot]

    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\services\delprot]

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
    "desktop search"=-

    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
    "ffis"=-

Locate fixme.reg on your Desktop and double-click on it.
You will receive a prompt similar to: "Do you wish to merge the information into the registry?".
Answer "Yes" and wait for a message to appear similar to "Merged Successfully".
    Restart your computer.
  • Launch Notepad, and copy/paste the box below into a new text file. Save it as Unreg.bat and save it on your Desktop.

    regsvr32 /u C:\Windows\isrvs\msfiltis.dll
    regsvr32 /u C:\Windows\isrvs\msdbhk.dll
    regsvr32 /u C:\Windows\isrvs\sysupd.dll

Locate Unreg.bat on your Desktop and double-click on it.
  • Delete the following files/folders (if present) in C:\Windows or C:\Windows\System32
    • delprot.ini
    • delprot.log
    • desktop.exe
    • isrvs (delete the entire folder)
  • Delete the following file: C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Delprot.sys
  • Delete the following files/folder (if present) in C:\Documents and Settings\<your user name>\Desktop
    • anal exploits.url
    • big [bleep] school for 2.95.url
    • evidence eraser.lnk
    • popup blocker stops popups.lnk
    • spyware avenger.lnk
    • virus hunter security.lnk
    • your platinum visa.lnk
  • Restart your computer and post a new log from HijackThis.

"Run HijackThis. Click on "Config...", "Misc Tools", "Open process manager". Select the following files and click on "Kill process". Answer Yes to the "Are you sure..." question.
desktop.exe
edmond.exe
ffisearch.exe"

only desktop.exe was there. I killed it.

"Launch Notepad, and copy/paste the box below into a new text file. Save it as Unreg.bat and save it on your Desktop.

QUOTE
regsvr32 /u C:\Windows\isrvs\msfiltis.dll
regsvr32 /u C:\Windows\isrvs\msdbhk.dll
regsvr32 /u C:\Windows\isrvs\sysupd.dll

Locate Unreg.bat on your Desktop and double-click on it.

Delete the following files/folders (if present) in C:\Windows or C:\Windows\System32
delprot.ini
delprot.log
desktop.exe
isrvs (delete the entire folder)
"

A DOS box labeled C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe came up, three pop up alerts came up, the first said LoadLibrary (C:\Windows\isrvs\misfiltis.dll") failed - the specific module could not be found.

then: C:\windows\isrvs\msdbhk.dll was loaded but the DllUnregisterServerentry point was not found.

the file cannot be registered

and last:

"DllUnregisterServer in C:\Windows\isrvs\sysupd.dll succeeded."

What did I do wrong?

Thanks, Trevuren

Hi chyarnell,

Please don't automatically ever assume that you did something wrong when a fix doesn't happen by the book. These bugs act in different ways on different systems.

Please send me a new log for review,

Hi chyarnell,

You have so much stuff on your machine that I will use another approach with you. This is a way to clean a lot of stuff at once.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

Now for the difficult part. Your system is suffering from the Bube virus which is a very bad one. Some systems end up by having to be reformatted. Before we start, make sure that you backup all your important data
in case we run into major trouble.

The following link will provide you with all the information concerning the virus/trojan itself as well as the best description around as far as how to use the programs. Calamity Jane's Treatment

I would advise you to print the article out so as to have it at your fingertips. Follow the instructions to the letter. When they mean SAFE MODE do it.
When they say DISCONNECT FROM THE INTERNET do it.

When you are all finished your chores, return to this thread and post a fresh HJT log making sure that all windows are closed except for HijackThis. We will start cleaning up the remnants.

Regards,

Trevuren

Trevuren,

Went through it as it said. Ran Microsoft Anti-spyware beta and shut it down as you requested. Here's the Hijack this log after reconnecting to the internet:

Hi chyarnell,

We got most of the big infection. Now we are going for the smaller ones. I anticipate that there will not be very much left after the following procedures.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

1. I need to disable your Microsoft AntiSpyware Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes. (Just making sure) :tazz:

Open Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Click on Tools, Settings.
In the left pane, click on Real-time Protection.
Under Startup Options uncheck: Enable the Microsoft AntiSpyware Security Agents on startup (recommended).
Under Real-time spyware threat protection uncheck: Enable real-time spyware threat protection (recommended).
After you uncheck these, click on the Save button and close Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Right click on the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the taskbar and select Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware.

2. Copy the data ib bold from the code box below to a notepad file.

Save to the DESKTOP (so you can find it) as ALL FILES, with the name of KILLTRUSTED.REG

Then double click the file - when it asks say yes to merging with the registry.

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains]

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Ranges]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Ranges]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Ranges]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Ranges]

3. Now let's do some work on your log:

First we need to make all files and folders VISIBLE:

Go to start>control panel>folder options>view (tab)
*choose to "show hidden files and folders,"
*uncheck the "hide protected operating system files" and the "hide extensions for know file types" boxes.
*Close the window with ok
*All hidden files will now be visible

Close all browser windows and RUN HijackThis.
. Click the SCAN button to produce a log.

Place a check mark beside each one of the following items:

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - _{0199DF25-9820-4bd5-9FEE-5A765AB4371E} - (no file)

Trevuren,

did everything. However when in safe mode, I did not find: mirc.exe, wincfg32.exe, ap9h4qmo.exe - although I did find ap9h4qmo.ini (I didn't delete it), ohwxsxwt.exe, fbxkqn.exe, video2.exe or the Ebates_MoeMoneyMaker folder. I searched for them all, but did not find any of them, but I did find VIDEO2.EXE-1A09729.pf (C:\Windows\prefetch)

"isrvs" was found and deleted. I did go back to folder options to make sure all boxes were checked and unchecked properly to show everything. Here's my latest HJT logfile. Sure is much shorter :tazz:

Hi chyarnell,

We are nearly there!!!!

Right click on the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the taskbar and select Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware

2. Please download WinHelp2002's DelDomains by right-clicking on the following link, and choosing "Save Target As":
http://www.mvps.org/.../DelDomains.inf
Save the file to the desktop. Then go to the desktop, right click on DelDomains.inf, and choose Install. You may not see any noticeable changes or prompts; this is normal. Then please restart your computer, and post a new HijackThis log.

You will have to reimmunize with SpywareBlaster, IE-SPYADS, and/or Spybot after doing this if you were using these features before.

Regards,

Trevuren

I don't exactly understand exactly what you mean, and I want to make sure I do. The word "reimmunize" is tripping me up. Are you saying to scan or update them these 3 or something else? (feels like a dumb question so I know it sounds that way.

This computers performance has gone from an old Ford Pinto to a new Mercedes since you have been helping. :tazz:
