Hi I'm new here :)

I have been having the same problems for a long time. Everytime I open my internet explorer browser, or some other programs, a security warning pops up that states " System Error! Your system was infected by dangerous trojan. Note: Your critical files can be lost! Click OK to download the antimalware application to clean your system! (Recommended)" (I'm not sure if this is a real error or not?). I click cancel when it pops up, but anytime I navigate to a different page, it will pop up again, many times more than once. Also, an IMSORRY Internet Speed Monitor sidebar appears anytime I use google to browse, and false links appear when i search, involving pornographic material. My computer lags constantly, and I'm assuming its slow because of this malware, but I'm not sure.

Also, my computer CD drive will not register, stating there is an error? No discs will read, and I'm not sure its because of the other problems or something else.

Can somebody please help me fix these reoccuring problems for good?
Thanks so much, and I really appreciate the help! :)

Can't help you out with Limewire as we don't recommend using it at all. It may very well be one of the programs that got you in this mess in the first place. I have seen many file sharing programs that have caused problems since you are downloading from other people who may have been infected or have bad intentions.

Please print the below instructions or copy them to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the order mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

Download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.sub.../Fixwareout.exe
http://swandog46.gee.../Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install. Make sure Run fixit is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin. Follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer. Your system may take longer than usual to load - this is normal.

Wait until your desktop loads. A notepad file called report.txt should open up. Post that log here.

Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->Settings->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if found:

Viewpoint

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following if they still exist and hit 'Fix Checked' after you checked the last one:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,SearchAssistant = http://search.bearsh...ar.html?src=ssb

Locate the following Files/Folders and delete them if they exist (if no location given, just do a search for them):

C:\Program Files\KillAndClean\
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Application Data\45298a98.exe
c:\windows\system32\DTOURS.exe
c:\windows\system32\sysmon12.exe
c:\windows\system32\ ___.exe

Go to http://www.bleepingc...to-use-combofix and follow the instructions on how to install the Recovery Console and run ComboFix. Go through all the steps until posting the log part. Post the combofix log here.

Uninstall Viewpoint via the Add/Remove Programs panel.

Delete this file:

C:\Program Files\sitDF.tmp

Did you have problems running Combofix? I see that you had to run it twice.

For the CD Drive issue, see here.

Go to Start->Run and type in msconfig and hit OK. Then go to the Startup tab and uncheck the following entries:

Yahoo! Pager
MySpaceIM
Aim6
SunJavaUpdateSched
Adobe Reader Speed Launcher
Zune Launcher
QuickTime Task
iTunesHelper

That will disable them from startup and should speed things up for you after a restart.

Good job. Your log is clean.

To help prevent future spyware infections, read the Anti-Spyware Tutorial and use the tools provided.

Are there any problems now? If none, go to Start->Run, copy/paste in combofix /u and hit OK to remove it. You should be set to go.

UPDATE: Finished with the CD drive, it all works perfectly again :)

And after reading the Spyware Prevention tips, I think its best for me to keep the tools, as they may come in handy later :)

Is there anything else? If not, thanks for all your help!!!
