Hi. My first post to your excellent site.
A few days ago I attempted to download Soulseek and ended up with a program
called 360 Share which I (foolishly?) paid for but after countless times trying have
not been able to get it to connect. I emailed their Tech Support but so far no reply.
Becoming suspicious I googled 360 Share and found a site which claimed that 360
is a new name for a program called e-Tomi which was a scam.
Anybody else have any experience of this outfit?

Actually in the link provided from Metallica it says that the old version of Limewire is unsafe and the new version is clean :tazz: So you're both right.

I used iMesh, and it was filled with haggard adware, spyware, etc. It came bundled with it's own antivirus, which it pretty much had to with all the crap that came with it, but it turned out the antivirus itself was just more adware that deleted other adware. I use K-lite Ressurection or mIRC.

Also, as far as the buying issue, I own hundreds of CDs. It's just nice to hear the music and decide whether it's worth your money or not. Some people don't have hundreds of bucks to waste on countless CDs that they'll only take home and throw in the garbage three days later. Not everyone who downloads is a theif.

As Kazaa is used by over 2 million users a day downloading things they gather the viruses from all the computers. Mainly every single song will contain a virus.

How is it possible to put a virus into an MP3? I thought they could only come as executable files. Like SCR or EXE.

I dont like limewire. It always shows "Immoral" results (Know what i mean?). I prefer Ares, though I'm not sure how popular it is.

Anything that can be activated by doubleclicking can be infected or be used as a ways of infection.

It is just a lot more difficult to hide a virus inside a mp3 or jpg then it is in a .exe or .scr

I have to add one comment. One fantastic P2P which for music and movies is in my opinion the SAFEST and most reliable software out there without spyware or anything is:

WinMX

It really rocks and so far i didn't get one single problem from it.

:tazz:

- Maverick

p.s. morpheus is good too but it takes up like 100% of your cpu...
