Hi,
I have 2 hard drives in my computer both are set up with XP Pro w/ service pac 2 . C drive is running fine , D drive is from my wife's computer it wouldn't boot in her computer due to a "ntldr missing" . My question is how can I transfer the needed ntldr files from my drive to the other drive so that it will boot and I can return it to her computer ? I don't have an oem xp disc to boot to , so I can't run the recovery option. Thanks for any help.

Try this: Click My Computer > Local Disk C: (assuming your operating system is on C:). At the top of the page click Tools > folder options > view. Uncheck "hide protected operating system files (recommended)" and click Apply. You will have to confirm the request in the message that shows up.

Now, under C: drive, you will see two files that were not there before:ntldr and ntdetect. Copy them and paste in the same place in your wife's disk. Move the disk back to her computer and reboot.

When finished, repeat the first step and check "hide protected system files".
