Hi guys, Please can comeone take a look at my HJT logs (Deckard's System Scanner), to see if anything is there which shouldn;t be/orlooks suspicious.

Just returned from hols, and Brother had been using comp, which is now running alot slower than normal, and stalls/freezes on a regular basis.

It seems you have Windows Firewall and McAfee Firewall enabled. Please turn off windows firewall.

How to turn off the Windows Firewall in Windows XP

1. Click on Start and then Control Panel.
2. You will have one of two control panels. Click on the Security Center icon.
3. Click on the Windows Firewall icon beneath the status updates.
4. Click Off (not recommended) and then click OK.
* NOTE: To turn it back on at a later date, go through these same steps except click On (recommended). When turning the Firewall back on, you can stop at this step, there is no need to continue.


Step #1

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Please go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following (if present):

• Save it to your desktop.
• Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).

• Close OTMoveIt2

Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
• Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
• The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
• When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
• The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
• Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.

Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove,you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts,click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer,please do so immediatly.

I tried to install Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware , but upon getting past the initial download, it came up with this error:

'The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavaliable'

'Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package HpSdpAppCoreApp.mis in the box below'

In the box below it has this code in it: C:\WINDOWS\Temp\$$ODDI$$\HpsdpApp\

Not sure what any of this means, but i can;t get past this step to fully download the software?

It looks like you have a broken MSI install for MBAM, thats why its not working. If anything that uses MSI has problems you will be prompted (over and over) to reinstall the software .

What we need to know is if this is one machine that this is happening on (no matter how many apps are screwed up) or multiple machines .

You can use this tool to fix the issue but will need to reinstall the affected software :

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.

• The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
• Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  
• Now click on Scan Settings
• In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
  • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
  Extended (if available otherwise Standard)
  
  • Scan Options:
  Scan Archives
  Scan Mail Bases
• Click OK
• Now under select a target to scan:Select My Computer
• This will program will start and scan your system.
• The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
• Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
  
  • Now click on the Save as Text button:
• Save the file to your desktop.
• Copy and paste that information in your next post.

How is your computer running?


Upgrading Java:

• Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 7.
• Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
• Click the "Download" button to the right.
• Select your Platform and check the box that says: "I agree to the Java SE Runtime Environment 6 License Agreement.".
• Click on Continue.
• Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation (jre-6u7-windows-i586-p.exe) and save it to your desktop. Do NOT use the Sun Download Manager..
• Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
• Go to Start > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
• Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
• Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
• Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java version.
• Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
• Then from your desktop double-click on the download to install the newest version.

• Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
