Ok, I have always like messin around with the prebuilt computers we bought (taking them apart and putting them back together) So I have some experience when it comes to the actuall components of the computer. I am looking to do my first build because I am leaving the house and heading off to college so I wan't a good desktop that will support the games I play now, and some future games. I might look into overclocking slightly to amp up my performance a tad. My budget right now is about $1500ish some of the parts I can get on amazon because I can get a really good discount on items wich will help lower the price dramatically.

Case: Ultra m998 ULT40069 Mid-Tower ATX Case ( this I can get %50 off the price) http://www.tigerdire...e...&CatId=1859

Power Supply: Ultra X-Pro 750-Watt Power Supply http://www.tigerdire.....0Power Supply

Mother Board: EVGA nforce 780i SLI Motherboard (this I can get %50 off the price) http://www.tigerdire...e...&CatId=3495

Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (this I can get %50 off the price) http://www.tigerdire...e...&CatId=3406

Video Card: XFX GeForce 8800GTS 512MB (this I can get %50 off the price) http://www.tigerdire...e...&CatId=1826

Ram: OCZ SLI-Ready Edition Dual Channel 2048MB http://www.tigerdire...e...&CatId=2368

Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar SE16 750GB Hard Drive http://www.tigerdire...e... Hard Drive

Optical Drive: LITE-ON Black 20X DVD+R http://www.tigerdire...e...&CatId=1624

CPU Heatsink: ZEROtherm / Butterfly BTF90 (this I can get %50 off the price) http://www.tigerdire.....tterfly BTF90

Monitor: ViewSonic VX2240w 22" (this I can get %50 off the price) http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/se...240w%2022"

Keyboard: Saitek Eclipse II Keyboard (this I can get %50 off the price) http://www.amazon.co...M/ref=de_a_smtd

Mouse: Razer Copperhead Tempest Blue (this I can get %50 off the price) http://www.amazon.co...m...7439&sr=1-1

Over all I wanted to know if you think there are major compatibility issues you see. Im not sure If I will need the 750 watt psu but I might get a second of the XFX 8800GTS when the time comes that I need more graphics power, and am not sure If I should get the Full tower case. Like I said before im not going to go hardcore in the overclocking area, and am not sure If I should stick with xp because I have a copy at home, or if I should switch to Vista if it is stable enough, because I like playing some older games. Any help and ideas are welcome, because I don't want to spend some money to find out it doesn't work with something else. Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

Your build looks pretty good to me, I like all these half price deals you can get - wanna grab me some parts? :)

The only change I would make is upgrading that PSU to a better quality one, like the Corsair 750W that comes to mind right now. Other quality brands include Antec, Silverstone, PC Power & Cooling, OCZ, and others.

Cheers
