I need someones help removing this stupid virus off my computer. It is called Trojan horse downloader...also known as dx8compat...what do I do...How do I get it off my computer...

This is a nasty one, but we can help you through it . Please Download LSPFix from http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm and run the program. Disconnect from the internet and close all Internet Explorer windows. Check the "I know what I'm doing" Button and remove all traces of asiclayer.dll. Reboot.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

If you don't want to see the QuickTime tray icon, fix this one as well:

Next, reboot in safe mode (by tapping F8 at startup and select safe mode from the menu). Be sure you're able to view hidden files and folders, and remove the following files in bold:

I did what you asked and everything went fine until i got to safe mode and tried to erase the files. Certain files did not exist. They are c:\program files\accele, pvm, c:\windows\cim.exe, c:\windows\system32\systartup.exe. Since they do not exist does that mean they are gone? Here is a fresh copy of the log from hijack this.

Reboot in safe mode (by tapping F8 at startup and select safe mode from the menu). Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

reboot and post a new log.

Certain files did not exist. They are c:\program files\accele, pvm, c:\windows\cim.exe, c:\windows\system32\systartup.exe. Since they do not exist does that mean they are gone?

I didnt see them in your log so you should be ok.

Press ctr-alt-delete then click the task manager.

look for winlogin.exe and end the process. Then do a search for winlogin.exe and delete it.

Lets see a new log after.

It wont let me end the process winlog.exe.....what do I do...plus there is a virus on my computer that I cant get off....everytime I change my homepage to google...this thing changes it back to about:blank and then the page smartsearch comes up...what do I do

Click Here download Rapid Blaster to your desktop, and run. When finished you can delete the downloaded file from your desktop.

reboot and lets see a new HJT log.

I already ran AVG....spyblaster....webroot spyware and some others...its not coming off...
