Hey guys,

It looks like I am not the only one who has been having problems with this malware. I have tried numerous things in trying to delete this stuff (going into safemode and deleting these files), but when I go back into normal mode, the things are intially not there, but after a little while of surfing the web, the Nail.exe and svcproc.exe files show up again. Also files like C:\Windows\windows32\dtpnihv.exe which show up in the running processes but do not in the My computer section so I can delete them.

Can you guys provide any help for me? I do have HJT log files if you would like to look at that.

I am currently completing a Pandasoft check as well.

Here is my current Hijackthis Log, if you could please check it out, I think I finally got rid of it just by using Ewido Security Suite. I do not see nail.exe or any of those files anymore, if someone could just give a quick look over this and tell me whether there is anything else that needs attention, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hello.

Open Notepad, and paste the following into it:

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_SvcProc]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SvcProc]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\LEGACY_SvcProc]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\SvcProc]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Enum\Root\LEGACY_SvcProc]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\SvcProc]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Enum\Root\LEGACY_SvcProc]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Services\SvcProc]

Save it as the name svcfix.reg (Do NOT forget the .reg) and as file type "All Files".

Double-click on svcfix.reg. If it asks you if you want to merge the information into the registry, say yes.

Reboot and post a new log.

Hello

Just fix the following with hijackthis:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapp.../search/ie.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapp...//www.yahoo.com
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapp...//www.yahoo.com

You're good to go!

Everything looks great --- your HijackThis log is completely clean. ;)
Below I have included a number of recommendations for how to protect your computer in order to prevent future malware infections. Please take these recommendations seriously; these few simple steps can stave off the vast majority of spyware problems.

1) Please navigate to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and download all the "critical updates" for Windows. This can patch many of the security holes through which attackers can gain access to your computer. I cannot stress enough how important this is.

2) In order to protect yourself against spyware, you should consider installing and running the following free programs:

Ad-Aware SE
A tutorial on using Ad-Aware to remove spyware from your computer may be found here.

Spybot-Search & Destroy
A tutorial on using Spybot to remove spyware from your computer may be found here. Please also remember to enable Spybot's "Immunize" and "TeaTimer" features.

SpywareBlaster
A tutorial on using SpywareBlaster to prevent spyware from ever installing on your computer may be found here.

IE-SPYAD
A tutorial on using IE-SPYAD to prevent spyware from ever installing on your computer may be found here

Keeping these programs up-to-date and running them regularly can prevent a great deal of spyware hassle.

3) Please consider using an alternate browser. Mozilla's Firefox browser is fantastic; it is much more secure than Internet Explorer, immune to almost all known browser hijackers, and also has the best built-in popup blocker (as an added benefit!) that I have ever seen. If you are interested, Firefox may be downloaded from here:
http://www.mozilla.o...oducts/firefox/

4) Also make sure to run your antivirus software regularly, and to keep it up-to-date.
[OR]
I notice that you do not seem to be running antivirus software. This is somewhat suicidal in today's digital world. AVG makes an excellent free antivirus client; it may be downloaded here. Please make sure to run your antivirus software regularly, and to keep it up-to-date.

Please also read Tony Klein's excellent article: How I got Infected in the First Place

Hopefully this should take care of your problems! Good luck. :tazz:
