Hi

I have a vundo virus on my system which has not been managed by the vundofix or virtumundobegone
I have scaned with Superantispyware after the above scanners are done and still have the Vundo bug.

Also something keeps trying to change a BMa35a5344 in my registery as reported by spybot.

Deckard's System Scanner
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware:
Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
• Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
• The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
• When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Extra Note)
• The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
• Save the entire report as C:\mbam.txt

Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

• Double click on the dss.exe file on your Desktop and follow the prompts.

Hi Hawk77,

Spy-Bot's TeaTimer can sometimes prevent some parts of the fix completing successfully.
Please disable TeaTimer for now. It can be re-activated once your HijackThis log is clean.
First:

• Right click Spybot in the System Tray (looks like a calendar with a padlock symbol)
• Choose Exit Spybot S&D Resident

Second:

• Open Spybot S&D
• Click Mode, check Advanced Mode
• Go To Left Panel, Click Tools, then also in left panel, click Resident
• If your firewall raises a question, say OK
• Uncheck the box labeled Resident Tea-Timer and OK any prompts.
• Use File, Exit to terminate Spybot
• Reboot your machine for the changes to take effect.

Don't forget to re-enable it, when your computer is clean.


Run HijackThis.

• Click the Do a system scan only button.
• Check the boxes for the all the entries listed below:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {E369A9A1-5E90-407F-AF62-785F693A460E} - (no file)
O18 - Filter hijack: text/html - (no CLSID) - (no file)

• Now close all windows other than HijackThis and click Fix Checked.
• Close HijackThis.

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.

• The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
• Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
• Now click on Scan Settings
• In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
  
  • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
    
    • Extended (if available otherwise Standard)
  • Scan Options:
    Scan Archives
    Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under Select a target to scan:
    My Computer
• The program will start and scan your system & will take a while so be patient and let it run.
• Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
• Now click on the Save as Text button:
• Save the file as C:\scan.txt.

Please post me the text from the following as your next reply:

Try to run a free online scan with the ESET Online Scanner
Note: You will need to use Internet Explorer for this scan

• Tick the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use
• Click Start
• When asked, allow the ActiveX control to install.
• Click Start
• Make sure that the options Remove found threats and the option Scan unwanted applications is checked
• Click Scan -->>(This scan can take several hours, so please be patient)
• Once the scan is completed, you may close the window
• Browse to the C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner folder & use Notepad to open the log.txt file
• Copy and paste that text as your next reply to this topic.

Try the Panda ActiveScan:

Run Panda ActiveScan:
Open Internet Explorer and paste the following into the address bar http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htm

• Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button.
• Enter your Country, State/Province & email address
• Select either Home User or Company
• Click the big Scan Now button
• If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it.
• It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
• When download is complete, click on My Computer to start the scan
• When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location. Perhaps as C:\panda log.txt

Please note where this log is saved, I will need you to post the contents, along with the others mentioned, with a fresh HijackThis log later.

Hi Hawk77,

Spy-Bot's TeaTimer can sometimes prevent some parts of the fix completing successfully.
Please disable TeaTimer for now. It can be re-activated once your HijackThis log is clean.
First:

• Right click Spybot in the System Tray (looks like a calendar with a padlock symbol)
• Choose Exit Spybot S&D Resident

Second:

• Open Spybot S&D
• Click Mode, check Advanced Mode
• Go To Left Panel, Click Tools, then also in left panel, click Resident
• If your firewall raises a question, say OK
• Uncheck the box labeled Resident Tea-Timer and OK any prompts.
• Use File, Exit to terminate Spybot
• Reboot your machine for the changes to take effect.

Don't forget to re-enable it, when your computer is clean.


Run HijackThis.

• Click the Do a system scan only button.
• Check the boxes for the all the entries listed below:

Create a Startup list:

• Open HiJackThis
• Click on the Open Misc Tools Section button.
• Make sure that the 2 boxes next to the Generate Startuplist log button are ticked
• Now click on the Generate Startuplist log button.
• NotePad will open a new window.
• Copy and paste the text from the log into your next post.

Create an Uninstall list:

• Open HijackThis, click Open the Misc Tools section
• Click Open Uninstall Manager
• Click Save list.

This generates uninstall_list.txt in the same folder as HijackThis. I will need you to paste the text from this file, into a post later


Please post the text from C:\otmove.txt, C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\uninstall_list.txt & startuplist.txt

Remove folders & files:

• Please go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following, (if present):
  Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.1_01
  Please take note of any other programs that you don't recognise in that list, and include them in your next response
• Using Windows Explorer, (to get there right-click your Start button and go to "Explore"), delete these files, (if present):
  C:\Windows\Tasks\B233202495F8D300.job

If you get an error message while trying to delete that file you may need to Restart in Safe Mode & delete it from there.

Congratulations, your new log looks clear, so we can now deal with some final clean up jobs.

Clean out cookies, temp files etc:

Firewall:
A Firewall is an essential tool in the security of any PC connected to the Internet.
Sunbelt Personal Firewall and Comodo are both excellent freeware.

Alternate Browsers:
Thankfully, there are now some excellent alternatives to MS Internet Explorer. They offer better security, more stability, and better speed.
A couple of good examples are: Firefox and Opera

Other Updates:
Vital security patches and updates are available for Microsoft Windows and Internet Explorer at the Windows Update Site
It is equally important to update the other security software you use, on a regular basis.

Further to Peer to Peer sharing programs:
Ultimately, it is your choice to keep, or delete those applications, and your choice as to how you use them.
Users who have repeat appearances in the Malware forums, as a result of downloading suspect files/applications, run the risk of being "passed over" by the volunteer Staff.
