Since my Norton 1 year free trial expired , and i decided against paying for another year , i have been trying to download AVG 8.0 free version and even got a copy of the FULL version with key from u torrent.
Upon installation , it is only getting so far and then informing me of errors and not being able to complete the installation. I have read up about it and apparently if there are any traces of AVG on my PC from before - it will not install. Ive therefore gone down the road of deleting all Ewido / AVG registries and files , but still have no joy in my installation of the AVG freeware. So , i am currently running with no protection , which is not ideal , and wondered if there is anything else i can do to get the AVG installed or if there is another form of free AV software i can download.
Any help much appreciated. Thanks , Steve. :)

More than likely you have infected your PC by downloading a "key" for AVG.

AVG has failed me for the last time some weeks ago.

Avast is what I use now.
It detected and removed things AVG did not.

AVG has gone worse and worse for some reason.

AFCSteve, I would suggest removing AVG completely,
and acquire 'keys' to any software through it's legit resources.
