Vista laggs in all games

Hello I just installed Vista ultimate 32 bit and ever since, I have had nothing but little lag spikes in all my games every few seconds online or offline.

my specs:

core2 duo 3.0ghz
9800 gtx 512mb
2 gigs of ram 800 mhz
400 gb hard drive space

no matter what game I try to play every 30 seconds it seems I drop down to 2 frames then bam back to my normal 50 or so.

EDIT: for any one wondering what games I play to know a little more of what I'm talking about here is a my xfire profile

Fire fox also tends to stop responding along with other programs for no reason. works then just stops
