Hello Bun B,
Your logs look clean. :)
Just a few more things to do.

Please download JavaRa to your desktop and unzip it to its own folder
  • Run JavaRa.exe, pick the language of your choice and click Select. Then click Remove Older Versions.
  • Accept any prompts. A log will appear (JavaRa.log), please post the contents of this log on the forum.
  • Open JavaRa.exe again and select Search For Updates.
  • Select Update Using Sun Java's Website then click Search and click on the Open Webpage button. Download and install the latest Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version for your computer.

You are using a old version of Adobe Acrobat Reader, please update it here.

  • Make sure you have an Internet Connection.
  • Double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Vista users, please right click on OTMoveit2.exe and select "Run as an Administrator")
  • Click on the CleanUp! button
  • A list of tool components used in the Cleanup of malware will be downloaded.
  • If your Firewall or Real Time protection attempts to block OtMoveit2 to reach the Internet, please allow the application to do so.
  • Click Yes to begin the Cleanup process and remove these components, including this application.
  • You will be asked to reboot the machine to finish the Cleanup process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.
Please remove any leftover tools we used to fix your computer.

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs from changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected)
1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Restart your computer.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
[/list]
System Restore will now be active again.

The following is a list of tools and utilities that I like to suggest to people. This list is full of great tools and utilities to help you understand how you got infected and how to keep from getting infected again.

1. Spywareguard: Is realtime protection from spyware.

2. Spywareblaster: Helps protect against any bad ActiveX from installing on your computer.

3. SuperAntiSpyware: Use this program to remove any spyware that may have gotten on your computer.

4. FireFox: This is a great alternate browser over Internet Explorer. Firefox is much more secure then Internet Explorer and also has a bulilt in pop up blocker.

5. ATF Cleaner: This program cleans out your temporary files. This is a great tool that can help speed your computer up.

6. Trillian or Miranda-IM - These are Malware free Instant Messenger programs which allow you to connect to multiple IM services in one program! (AOL, Yahoo, ICQ, IRC, MSN)

7. Windows Updates - It is very important to make sure that both Internet Explorer and Windows are kept current with the latest critical security patches from Microsoft. To do this just start Internet Explorer and select Tools > Windows Update, and follow the online instructions from there.

To find out more information about how you got infected in the first place and some great guidelines to follow to prevent future infections you can read this article by Tony Klein

hey jimmy, thanks for helping me out :)

ive installed the new JavaRa and updated my adobe. ive also did the steps to fix my system restore. everything seems to be running better now. i have a few questions and notes though:

- before i was running service pack 2. but now i updated to service pack 3 with everything to date.

how often would you perform a system scan with AntiVir? even though my logs are clean, whenever i scan, it still detects harmful files/keys. should i quarantine them or just ignore it?

for that flash disinfector you gave me, should i use it on every single usb (camera, phone, drive, ipod) before i plug it in?

to get rid of the files i downloaded to disinfect my computer, do i just delete them or i have to go through an uninstall process? (Hijackthis, dirlook.. and i think thats it)

right now the protection im using is AntiVir, Comodo, and SuperAntispyware. Do i need Malwarebytes or can i get rid of it?

i always have antivir and comodo running (next to my clock). do i need to have superantispyware and if so, malwarebytes running also?

thanks a lot jimmy, im sorry to pester you with all these questions. :)

Hello Bun B,

how often would you perform a system scan with AntiVir?

Well I have seen a lot of people say do a scan every 1-2 weeks. I try to do my scan about once a week. When I do my scan I use all of my programs that scan my computer as well.

even though my logs are clean, whenever i scan, it still detects harmful files/keys. should i quarantine them or just ignore it?

Could you please tell me where they are picking these up at?

for that flash disinfector you gave me, should i use it on every single usb (camera, phone, drive, ipod) before i plug it in?

No.

to get rid of the files i downloaded to disinfect my computer, do i just delete them or i have to go through an uninstall process? (Hijackthis, dirlook.. and i think thats it)

Well for any leftover tools look in your Add or Remove programs list and see if they are listed there, if they are just go ahead and remove them. For the ones that are not there, just find and delete there file/folders. If you need any help doing this please let me know.

right now the protection im using is AntiVir, Comodo, and SuperAntispyware. Do i need Malwarebytes or can i get rid of it?

That would be up to you, I use both SUPERAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes.

i always have antivir and comodo running (next to my clock). do i need to have superantispyware and if so, malwarebytes running also?

Nope you don't have to have SUPERAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes running all the time, they are just scanners. The only way to get real time protection from those 2 programs, you would have to pay for it.

thanks a lot jimmy, im sorry to pester you with all these questions. :)

Your not pestering me, if you have any questions please ask them. :)

Hello Bun B,

thanks jimmy :) you answered all my questions.

No problem. ;)

so both SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes are spyware removal programs, correct?

Yes.

between these two, which one would you recommend i keep?

Well thats a tough question to answer, its really up to the person. But I do like MalwareBytes better, nothing wrong with SUPERAntiSpyware just like MalwareBytes better. One thing I would say is keep them both for a little while and see what one you like better, they are both good programs.

and also, i think how AntiVir was picking up stuff.. was because of MoveIt. but after i did the cleanup! everything seems normal. i did a scan and here's the log, not sure if it will help or not :)

The AntiVir log is clean.

aside from that, i think my computer is set and ready to go! :)

I agree. :)
Do you have any other questions?

I would not recommend using any registry cleaner to clean your registry, if you are not 100% sure what it is deleting you could mess up your computer.
