Hello

Windows defender keeps telling me I have to reboot so it can finish removing spyware from my computer, but the message doesn't go away after reboot. It shows a few different virus that is has found such as
Trojan-Spy.Win32.GreenScreen
Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Agent.bq
Trojan-Spy.HTML.Bankfraud.dq

No AntiVirus Onboard

I see no evidence of an AntiVirus program on your system. This must be resolved. Here are a few very good free Antivirus products which are available:

Select one of these, or another of your choice. Download, install, and update definitions. Do Not run a scan yet

No Firewall Onboard

You don't seem to have a firewall program installed. Using a firewall will allow you to allow/deny access for applications that want to go online. Select one of these, or another of your choice:

You have the program Windows Defender Real-time Protection running on your machine and that is good. But prior to doing the fix below with HiJackThis it needs to be turned off. Please do the following:
  • Open Windows Defender
  • Scroll down and uncheck Turn on real-time protection (recommended)
  • After you uncheck this, click on the Save button and close Windows Defender.
Unless it is turned off it could interfere with the fix by HiJackThis.

Step #1

Before we begin, you should save these instructions in Notepad to your desktop, or print them, for easy reference. Much of our fix will be done in Safe mode, and you will be unable to access this thread at that time. If you have questions at any point, or are unsure of the instructions, feel free to post here and ask for clarification before proceeding.

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [cmdaplstr] C:\ProgramData\cmdaplstr\bqdiperg.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [tZbkNz03IT] C:\ProgramData\fkdqpqhq\nwhctcde.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [shwin] C:\ProgramData\shwin\jitapgrc.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [EnUtil] C:\ProgramData\EnUtil\wngxedyp.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [uiweben] C:\ProgramData\uiweben\khubgbkt.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [lphcnlkj0e5f6] C:\Windows\system32\lphcnlkj0e5f6.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SysMntAdm] C:\ProgramData\SysMntAdm\qvitehih.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SpywareStop] C:\Program Files\SpywareStop\SpywareStop.exe -boot

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Close HiJackThis. Reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Please go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following (if present):

SpywareStop
*This is considered a Rogue Spyware Application and I recommend you remove it.

Please note any other programs that you don't recognize in that list in your next response.

Please download the OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
  • Copy the lines in the codebox below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    [kill explorer]
    C:\ProgramData\cmdaplstr
    C:\ProgramData\fkdqpqhq
    C:\ProgramData\shwin
    C:\ProgramData\EnUtil
    C:\ProgramData\uiweben
    C:\Windows\system32\lphcnlkj0e5f6.exe
    C:\ProgramData\SysMntAdm
    C:\Program Files\SpywareStop
    purity
    EmptyTemp
    [start explorer]
  • Return to OTMoveIt2, right click in the "Paste Standard List of Files/Folders to Move" window (under the light blue bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt2
Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Step #2

After that, Reboot

Step #3

Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Close all other windows before proceeding.
  • Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.

You are very welcome! :)
Great job on following my instructions.

It seems you have Windows Firewall enable along with Comodo Firewall Pro. I recommend you disable Windows Firewall so that Comodo can work to its full extent.

To disable the Windows Firewall included in Windows Vista:
  • Open Windows Firewall
  • Click 'Turn Windows Firewall on or off'.
  • In the 'User Account Control' dialog box, click 'Continue', to open 'Windows Firewall Settings'.
  • In the 'General' tab, select 'Off (not recommended)'.
  • Click 'OK'.

I see you have the ASK Toolbar. I recommend you remove it because it the behavior exhibited by this toolbar.
For more information read THIS

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O2 - BHO: Ask Search Assistant BHO - {0579B4B1-0293-4d73-B02D-5EBB0BA0F0A2} - C:\Program Files\AskSBar\SrchAstt\1.bin\A2SRCHAS.DLL

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Close HiJackThis. Reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Step #2

After that, Reboot, and post a new DSS log here in a reply

I preformed the Kaspersky scanner. When it was finished I had could not get the file to save correctly. When I tried to save the file to my desktop it does not show up. I tried to resave it and in the save dialog box it shows that the file I save the first time is there. Any suggestions? Thank you.

After a few more tries I figured out that I had not opened the Internet Explorer window as an admin. I now have the Kaspersky Online Scanner results. Sorry about not getting it right away. That whole run as admin gets me sometime.

The report is kinda long so I cut out the end. I hope thats alright. It found over 28,000 files but almost all are in an OTMoveIt folder, so I am guessing that those will be ok not to display. If you need to see all of them just let me know. thanks again.

From here until the end is just what seems like movie titles and game titles. Everyone of them is in the same "C:\_OTMoveIT\MovedFiles" folder. Hope this makes things easier.

Sorry for the delay. Your logs are looking good, keep up the good work.

    C:\Users\Mine\a.zip
    purity

Also how is your computer running?

You are very welcome!
Your log looks clean, great job!
You may now re enable Windows Defender.

Now for some cleanup..
Please download OTCleanIt and save it to Desktop.
  • Please make sure you are connecting to the Internet
  • Double-click OTCleanIt.exe
  • Click the CleanUp! button.
  • Select Yes when the "Begin cleanup Process?" prompt appears.
  • If you are prompted to Reboot during the cleanup, select Yes

Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:
  • Disable and Enable System Restore. - If you are using Windows ME or XP then you should disable and re-enable system restore to make sure there are no infected files found in a restore point.

You can find instructions on how to enable and reenable system restore here:

    Managing Windows Millenium System Restore

    or

    Windows XP System Restore Guide

Reenable system restore with instructions from tutorial above

  • Make your Internet Explorer more secure - This can be done by following these simple instructions:
    • From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
    • Click once on the Security tab
    • Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
    • Click once on the Custom Level button.
      • Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
      • Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
      • Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
      • Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
      • Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
      • Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
      • When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
      • If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
    • Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.
  • Update your AntiVirus Software - It is imperitive that you update your Antivirus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your antivirus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.

  • Use a Firewall - I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer. Without a firewall your computer is succeptible to being hacked and taken over. I am very serious about this and see it happen almost every day with my clients. Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly.

For a tutorial on Firewalls and a listing of some available ones see the link below:

    Understanding and Using Firewalls

  • Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly. This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.

  • Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will added a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs.

A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:

Using SpywareBlaster to protect your computer from Spyware and Malware

  • Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.
Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically.

here are some additional utilities that will enhance your safety

  • IE/Spyad <= IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
  • Google Toolbar <= Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.
  • Winpatrol <= Download and install the free version of Winpatrol. a tutorial for this product is located here:
Using Winpatrol to protect your computer from malicious software
