I've a PC running Windows XP.

My problem is that when I turn it on, it's not going beyond the Dell Splash Screen. In other words, the screen that appears straight away with the Dell Logo on it.

My BIOS isn't set to boot from CD - this I know now

PC isn't picking up my keyboard so I can't access the BIOS or the boot menu.

I don't have any weird and wonderful peripherals plugged into the PC. All the cables seem to be OK.

Any suggestions?

What happens after the Dell spash screen? Does the Dell splash screen ever go away? What if you unplug your keyboard and let it boot?

What model Dell do you have?

If it is a laptop, what are the lock lights (caps lock, etc) showing? If it is a desktop, what are the diagnostic lights showing (1,2,3,4 on front or back of computer)?

I've managed to fix the problem by opening up the PC and poking around at its innards.
