Hello,

I recently purchased a Pioneer SATA DVD-RW (DVR-215d).

When I first installed it, I was using it to install software on my new computer but after a while it would cause my PC to freeze. After ensuring all of my drivers were updated, I updated the firmware for the DVD-RW. Since then, any DVD that I attempt to play causes the media player to crash. I am able to manually navigate the DVDs contents but not play movies.

I have tried to play the movies on Windows Media Player and PowerDVD. Those programs do not say that there is an error with the DVD, like it would if I didn't have the right codec, but actaully crashes to the desktop.

My system specs are:

Windows XP Pro SP3
Intel Core 2 Quad 6700
4 GB RAM
Asus P5N-D motherboard
XFX 8800GT 512MB video card
Mitsumi CD-RW
and of course the Pioneer DVD-RW

I'm curious as to what the problem might be but also wondering how I might reset the DVD to factory firmware.
