I would be grateful, if you could help.
I have just upgraded Windows 2000 Professional Bootable Disc to
Windows XP Professional Up-grade. Have downloaded all windows updates except XP SP1 (having trouble with internet being cut off due to time-out.

Have discovered that the inport/export in the file bar, in the Address Book, are not working.
show's up as a very pale blue, and will not start up when I try to import address book from saved files.

have downloaded ie6 from latest PC Mag. but did not fix the problem.

any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Once again Thankyou for providing this service.

You can order a free Windows Update CD from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft...ct/cd/order.asp

If you don't have Windows Updates installed your wide open to many common virus and spyware infections.

Let us take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log back here with the results.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

You log is clean <_< I can only think that there was an error with the XP upgrade. Windows upgrades have never worked very well, and XP is no different.

Your best option is a format, and "clean" install of XP. Of course, this requires you have access to any programs installed on your system, and have any important data backed up.
