Hi,

I've been experiencing internet disconnection quite frequently now. Never had this sort of problem before. After only about 10min sometimes, I won't be able to surf anymore. It gets well after I rebooted but also didn't last very long. I'd be grateful if someone shares his/her experience with me.

Thanks heaps!

Are you using a networking device such as a router or switch?

I'm having the same problem too. I'm using a router to connect to the internet..after a couple of minutes, I can't surf anymore and the internet disconnects. After I try to reconnect, there's an error message (ERROR 772: the remote computer's network hardware is incompatible with the type of call requested). But after redialling so many times. then I can connect. But after a couple of minutes again, I can't surf anymore. PLEASE HELP

eloydeguzman and alian2072,

a few questions: :) :)

What kind of internet connection? (DSL, CABLE, SATELLITE, DIAL-UP)

Wireless?

If you are using a router or switch, what kind?

Finally, have you contacted your ISP (internet service provider) to see if the problem is on their end?

I'm using a DSL connection but I still need to dial through PPOE to connect. Once I get this problem, I call the technical support and they told me that there was no problem with them and that they will just reset the server. But after that, still I'm having the same again.

There are multiple items that could be contributing to your problem:

Switch (I would like to know the make and model of your switch)
NIC
Internet Settings
Ethernet Cable (I doubt this is the problem, but I've seen some strange things)

Also, for the sake of eliminating some of these elements, can you connect your PC directly to the modem? (not using the switch)

I'm using a ZTE modem...

Anyway...is it possible if I would just replace it with a router? The ISP gave me the username and password for the internet connection.
And also the problem is, I don't know how to setup a wireless router ('cause I'm using a laptop) and secure it

Please help

Ok, don't give up! I know we can work thru this.

Here is what I would do if I was there with you:

(this is going to be written as if you know nothing about networking so that I am crystal clear, ok?)

1. Find the phone jack that your modem is connected to.
2. Make sure the DSL filter is connected good.
3. follow the phone line from the filter to the modem
4. check the phone line for any damage
5. Find the ethernet cable that is connected to your modem (this looks like a thick phone line)
6. Check the ethernet cable for any damage
7. follow the other end of the ethernet cable and unhook it from your router
8. connect that end of the ethernet cable directly to your laptop
9. wait 20-30 seconds for your laptop to get an IP address and then try to browse the internet

Try this and tell me what happens. There is a solution and we will find it.
