Okay, I've been having trouble with a Trojan-Spy.HTML.Smitfraud.c in which my internet explorer always turns into the blank address, but with a PPC search engine in it. I also get random pop-ups (the same one) every few minutes.
Not only this, but my desktop has turned into a blue, "Security Warning" thing.

I have tried all that was listed in the forum guide, such as AWS, Ad-Aware, SpyBot, etc. However, everytime I run some of these programs and I reboot and scan again, the files are always sill there! :tazz:
;)

I have even used TDS-3 and AVG Free, which I thought would fix it as they both caught the trojans...but they were unable to delete it.

Also, you may want to know that I had the MSPlus spyware thing a few months ago when i downloaded MSPlus, however, I deleted it with help from a site. However, it seems to me like many problems have occured ever since.
Also, I have installed PHP, mySQL and Apache...but I didn't install properly, so everytime I boot my computer, there are two PHP errors which appear before the Apache Server starts. ;)
I'm not that desperate for anybody to fix this problem, but for the trojan, I am.

Here is my HiJackThis Log:

Download CW-Shredder at the link below:
http://cwshredder.ne.../CWShredder.exe

Download 'SpSeHjfix'. to the desktop and then right-click a blank part of desktop & select new folder, call it spfix and unzip the file into that folder.

Disconnect from the net and Close ALL OPEN PROGRAMS.
Run 'SpSeHjfix'. and click on "Start Disinfection".
When it's finished it will reboot your machine to finish the cleaning process.
The tool creates a log of the fix which will appear in the folder.

If it doesn't find any of the SE files or any hidden reinstallers it will say system clean and not go on to next stage

Now run CWShredder - {b]Use the FIX button![/b]

Reboot and post a fresh HJT log and the log that was created by 'SpSeHjfix'.

Regards,

1 problem I've stumbled on currently. I can only find svchosts, not syshosts in the Task Manager.

Also problem here:

*Click Here to download Killbox by Option^Explicit.
*Extract the program to your desktop and double-click on its folder, then double-click on Killbox.exe to start the program.
*In the killbox program, select the Delete on Reboot option.
*Open the text file with these instructions in it, and copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

CODEC:\wp.exe
C:\wp.bmp
C:\Windows\sites.ini
C:\Windows\popuper.exe
C:\Windows\System32\helper.exe
C:\Windows\System32\intmonp.exe
C:\Windows\System32\msmsgs.exe
C:\Windows\System32\ole32vbs.exe
C:\Windows\system32\msole32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\syshost.exe

*Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".
*Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

--------------------------------------------------------

When I downloaded, it wasn't in a folder, but with an X sign program. The program opened into the Killbox program, but then I didn't understand the file thing you asked me to do...am I supposed to create a new file in notepad and copy and paste the thing in the Code section?
I'm asking this because when I tried pasting it into the text area provided by the program, it would only display the top one: C:\wp.exe

Thanks.

Okay. I've entered them individually and deleted them individually, though, I was forced to skip the Task Manager part because I had none of those files. Is that okay? Or was the PVCHOSTS a related file?

Going to restart now...

Thanks,

If syshost.exe is not running that is good, but it was running in your last HijackThis log, so have another good look. You can aplhabetize your tasks by clicking the bar in taskmnager above their names.

This is the key sentence for using Killbox this way:
Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

Copy & paste does not work, you have to copy and then click File > Paste from Clipborad.
It can not display more then one line so what is displayed doesn't matter very much.

It would be easier if you had the patience to wait for an answer. :tazz:

I'm on my laptop now. Would it get infected too?

So I guess I'll have to restart from the task manager part right?

With the C:\windows\system32\log files, I can't find it, but have loghours.dll, login.cmd, logman.exe, logoff.exe, logon.scr, logonui.exe, logonui.exe.manifest and logagent.exe

It has to be a folder named Log Files.
Leave everything that only looks like it alone.
Remove as much as you can find that is on the list..
