Hi there,

Welcome to GeeksToGo. My name is RatHat, and I will help you get through the process of cleaning the malware from your computer.

OK firstly, I need you to print out each post I make so that you can refer to it while we fix your computer. This is because there will be times when you are unable to be online to read my instructions, and I will want you to do everything very carefully. I also need you to follow my instructions in the order that they are given. If however, you cannot carry out one of them, please continue on with the next and let me know what you were unsuccessful with. Please ensure you have word wrap turned off in Notepad. To do this, open Notepad, choose Format, then ensure Word Wrap is Un-checked. (Word Wrap makes reading your logs difficult).

Next, I would like to make sure that you can view hidden files and folders;
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • Under the Hidden files and folders heading SELECT Show hidden files and folders.
  • UNCHECK the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
  • UNCHECK the Hide extensions for known file types option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [lphcn0lj0e37c] C:\WINDOWS\system32\lphcn0lj0e37c.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SMrhcj0lj0e37c] C:\Program Files\rhcj0lj0e37c\rhcj0lj0e37c.exe
O16 - DPF: {0EB0E74A-2A76-4AB3-A7FB-9BD8C29F7F75} -
O16 - DPF: {48DD0448-9209-4F81-9F6D-D83562940134} -
O16 - DPF: {A2EBA59E-C601-4AE3-900B-6B61F29500BE} -
O16 - DPF: {CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-0003-ABCDEFFEDCBA} (Java Plug-in 1.6.0_03) -
Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Close HiJackThis.
When i got to Dss i realized my pop up blocker and phishing filter were on, also my firewall for windows which i wasnt able to adjust before, cuz of this virus. So before Dss i was able to turn it off and the others but only got the main.txt not the other? wonderful... :)
You have probably run DSS before, it only makes the extra.txt once.
OK, as a check to make sure you don't have anything else lurking can you run an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner.
Note: You must use Internet Explorer to run this scan.
Click the Accept button.
You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
    • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
    Extended (if available otherwise Standard)
    • Scan Options:
    Scan Archives
    Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan:Select My Computer
  • This will program will start and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete it will display the results if your system has been infected.
    • Now click on the Save Report As Text button:
  • Under Save as type, choose Text file (*.txt)
  • Save the file to your desktop as Kaspersky.txt
  • Copy and paste that information in your next post.
Hi there,
The log shows your Java having files missing:
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_07\bin\ssv.dll (file missing)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Sun Java Console - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_07\bin\ssv.dll (file missing)
So lets reinstall it, then run the Kaspersky scan again:
Please download the latest version here (Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 7). Once downloaded, install it and then Reboot your computer.
It is most important that you also uninstall older versions of Java.
  • Click Start, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs.
  • Delete all Java updates except Java ™ 6 Update 7
Regards,
RatHat
sorry buddy, im gonna start that scan, right now. Im still seeing red x's in some places. I wasnt sure if should have deleted java 1st, so i just "reinstalled" it, by clicking their option. Otherwise they said i already had it, and didnt need it. Now im thinking i should remove it totally then reinstall it. I dunno? ex.whatever is between the "insert image" and the "insert email link" when you in your posts options, there is a red x there, isnt that java? Anyways ill be back after the scan... Thanks again,
OK, uninstall all versions of Java on your machine, then reboot and install the JRE 6 Update 7.
If it still doesn't work, let me know.
It happens sometimes!
Lets run an F-Secure online scan instead:
  • Go to http://support.f-sec.../home/ols.shtml
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Start scanning button. A window will pop up.
  • Allow the Active X control to be installed on your computer, then click the Accept button
  • Click Full System Scan and allow the components to download and the scan to complete.
  • If malware is found, check Submit samples to F-Secure then select Automatic cleaning
  • When cleaning has finished, click Show report (this will open an Internet Explorer window containing the report)
  • Highlight and Copy (CTRL + C) the complete report, and Paste (CTRL + V) in a new reply to this post
If Automatic cleaning with Submit samples hangs, click Cancel, then New Scan
  • When the cleaning option is presented, Uncheck Submit samples to F-Secure
  • Click Automatic cleaning
  • When cleaning has finitished, click Show report (this will open an Internet Explorer window containing the report)
  • Highlight and Copy (CTRL + C) the complete report, and Paste (CTRL + V) in a new reply to this post
Notes:
  • This scan will only work with Internet Explorer
  • You must have administrator rights to run this scan
  • This scan can take a while, so please be patient
