I was playing an online game and my computer started going extremely slow for everything. I tried to restart and it was still slow. The process "svchost.exe" was using 50% of system resource, so I ended the process. The process "update.exe" ended also when I ended svchost. Now, nothing sound related works for my computer. iTunes plays no music and gives a error message when loaded up. Ventrillo also gives an error message. I just want to make sure I don't have any malware.

For situations like this, it's best to post in the other sections first before jumping to the conclusion that it's malware related. Did you run any scans and pick anything up?

It might be best to post in the Windows board first. I don't see much here except for an old McAfee service left behind.

Go to Start->Run and type in notepad and hit OK. Then copy and paste the following into Notepad:

sc stop mcupdmgr.exe
sc delete mcupdmgr.exe
del delete.bat

Save the file as "delete.bat". Make sure to save it with the quotes. Double click on it.
