I have an older dell dimension and a laptop that im trying to connect to the internet. All of these computers have been setup for my old work network. I have tried everything I can think of to fix this and im not having any luck. I have changed the ip and subnet mask addresses to the switched them to automatic. I bought linksys 5 port switch to hook my two computers up and my roommates computer up together up in a small network but none of my computers will access the internet. Please if anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.

Is your network connected to the internet through a router?

If you are using a router, why don't you check the option to use DHCP, which will let the router automatically assign IP addresses. That would help insure that there's not a conflict with your IP addresses.
