Windows XP Pro Startup Black Screen?

hi all,

i have just recently fixed a problem, here is my tread:

however i left my laptop off overnight and switched it on in the morning and found that before the windows xp splash screen comes, the laptop shows a blank black screen with a underscore flashing in the top left hand corner and i can't go into windows now.

i booted from the windows xp cd and tried repairing the installation but the same thing happens as my previous post(in the link above). also i tried the recovery console and typed fixboot. it said it was successful but nothing happen when i started the laptop again. please can someone help me. thanks in advance.
