Distorted sound from Asus MoBo

I booted up the PC today And I got very bad distortion from coming from the speakers with any type of sound output.

I just have cheezy speakers plugged into the green jack on the back.
I tried a spare set with the same results. I also tried to plug them into the front jack with the same results.

I checked device manager and there are no warning flags,
Reloaded the drivers for C-media CM6501,
Trying Asus's web site tech support w/ not too much luck.

Any ideas? I'm open for suggestions.
