Okay, I have a PC game, Civilization III, that I have played before on my computer and my girlfriends laptop last year. I uninstalled them last year becasue I wasn't playing anymore and it took up about 700MB. ANYWAY, i want to install it again, and on both the laptop and desktop I am getting the error "the application or DLL F:(or G:)\msvbvm60.dll not a valid windows image. PLease check against your installation diskette". I am using service pack 2 on desktop and laptop. I have been to the topic that said I needed to upgrade my Virtual BAsic to 6.0, and I installed that exe and the files, but the Civilization CD still doesn't install. If you are wondering, I can't download SP 3 because everytime I try it says it was unsuccesful at downloading, but that is a whole different can of worms.

I'm suspecting from what I've seen with other people having that exact problem installing that game, that Microsoft has made a newer version of that file and installed it on your machine and the old version doesn't match the checksum of the newer one, giving that error. If the game has a forum you might check with it to see how it has been solved. If you need the newer version of the file you can probably get it from microsoft. You may just be able to skip the file during installation if it's already on the machine.
