Can you login to Normal Mode?

Please print the below instructions or copy them to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the order mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->Settings->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if found:

GamesBar

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following if they still exist and hit 'Fix Checked' after you checked the last one:

O2 - BHO: GamesBarBHO Class - {CB0D163C-E9F4-4236-9496-0597E24B23A5} - C:\Program Files\GamesBar\oberontb.dll
O3 - Toolbar: GamesBar - {6F282B65-56BF-4BD1-A8B2-A4449A05863D} - C:\Program Files\GamesBar\oberontb.dll
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {72B68A1C-58DD-41B5-B619-D78A182A77D9} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [\Win441.exe] C:\Windows\system32\Win441.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [\Win442.exe] C:\Windows\system32\Win442.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [\Win443.exe] C:\Windows\system32\Win443.exe
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {1A93C934-025B-4c3a-B38E-9654A7003239} - C:\Program Files\GamesBar\oberontb.dll

Locate the following Files/Folders and delete them if they exist (if no location given, just do a search for them):

C:\Program Files\GamesBar\
C:\Windows\system32\Win440.exe
C:\Windows\system32\Win441.exe
C:\Windows\system32\Win442.exe
C:\Windows\system32\Win443.exe

Go to http://www.bleepingc...to-use-combofix and follow the instructions on how to install the Recovery Console and run ComboFix. Go through all the steps until posting the log part. Post the combofix log here.

OK , I did as requested, including downloading the recovery console and dragging it onto combo fix. A couple things happened not described in the instructions. After dropping the recovery console onto combofix it showed the installing bar and then there was a loud beep and the computer restarted. Upon resatart combofix automatically started. It ran and then automatically restarted again. I could not see the .txt log in the C: drive so I searched for it and the search found the log on the C: root drive, so it was invisible to me. but hte log follows. The log seems to say it did not do it job but mt browser is longer hijacked as I as typing this from the infected PC anf prior I could not access any websites without being redirected. The gamebar has been on the computer for awhile and I dont think it is the cause of this issue but it has been removed all the same as requested.

Just run combofix by double clicking on it to see if you can get a log that way.

Uninstall Winferno via the Add/Remove Programs panel if found.

Download OTMoveIt2 at http://download.blee...r/OTMoveIt2.exe
* Save it to your desktop.
* Double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Vista users, right click on OTMoveIt2.exe and select Run as an Administrator).
* Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

C:\WINDOWS\Tasks\rpc.job
C:\Program Files\Winferno

* Return to OTMoveIt2. Right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the Yellow bar) and choose Paste.
* Click the red Moveit! button.
* A log of files and folders moved will be created in the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder in the form of Date and Time (mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log). Please open this log in Notepad and post its contents in your next reply.
* Close OTMoveIt2.

If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Good job. Your log is clean.

To help prevent future spyware infections, read the Anti-Spyware Tutorial and use the tools provided.

Are there any problems now? If none, go to Start->Run, copy/paste in combofix /u and hit OK to remove it. You should be set to go.

there was no winferno to uninstall.
Winferno was not found anywhere, but that rpc file was moved.

C:\WINDOWS\Tasks\rpc.job moved successfully.
File/Folder C:\Program Files\Winferno not found.

Probably not needed, but wouldn't hurt. Make sure you are in Normal Mode. Run a new HJT scan and post the log here.

How is it running so far?

Do you use the fax service in Windows? If not, see this link on how to remove the component. You should see Fax Services there. See if it's checked. If so, uncheck it.
