Install Vertical CD Rom?

Hey everyone,

I am building a custom chassis and it looks like my DVD rom would fit best vertical rather than horizontal.
Would I have problems with my CDs' spin or exploding parts from turning it sideways like that? I've seen
some computers that have them like that, but I don't know if they're specially made or something. Thanks

Hi there,

Optical drives are made to work vertical or horizontal - when you insert the disc into the tray, it has some little tab holders that will hold it in place when it's in the vertical position. See this picture for what I mean:
