Good day,

I am looking for help on a problem with my older (2003) Dell. I had it set aside for about a year and want to start using it as an extra machine (before getting the kids their own new ones). Today when I tried to start it up I will not recognize either a mouse (USB tried 2) or a keyboard (tried PS/2 and USB).

Both mice light up at start up, but then go dark when Windows XP loads. The keyboards have poser can get me to the BIOS and to Safe mode.

The problem is that in regular mode and in Safe mode there is more than one user account. (How we got more than one in Safe mode I know not). So I cannot get to the device manager. I just set at a log on screen.

I have tried all of the USB ports (2 on the Motherboard and 3 others) and have tried at startup and waiting until XP to loads.

Any thoughts.
