When I turn on my computer, the screen comes up with bizarre coloured blocked areas...as I move my mouse the coulour change and the blocks change. Then the screen changes to the alphabet in various colours....then I get a screen showing icons....numerous all over the screen....help? Is this a software failure or a virus?

Could be either. See if you can boot in Safe Mode. While your computer is starting, keep tapping the F8 key. A menu will appear, use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode.

If the screen appears normal, you have driver or software problem. If it's still garbled, you probably have hardware failure. Reply with your results. <_<

No, probably just a new video card.
