About 3 weeks ago I invested in a new vid card and CPU as they were on sale on NewEgg for a decent price. Now, after reading mobo and RAM specs, I'm completely lost and was hoping to get some help finding budget yet good quality mobo and RAM that are all compatible.

VID CARD:
GeForce 8800 GS 384MB 192-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16

CPU:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Black Edition Processor, Socket AM2 1MB L2 Cache

I'm also planning on buying the following case:
CoolerMaster 690 nVidia Edition - http://store.nvidia....uctID=105950900 -
which is the nVidia version of the
http://www.newegg.co...N82E16811119137

That case has some darn good ratings for space and such.

Now the main question is with these 3 things, what RAM and Mobo should I get? Links to products will be very helpful as I am not new to software, just hardware. I have the hard drive (IDE, does that matter) and can get a DVD drive on my own easy :)

Anyway, thanks in advance. I hope I provided the info :)

Hi there, and welcome!

Here's a nice motherboard for your system. Just reading through the reviews, though, the graphics card and IDE connectors are close together, so pay careful attention when physically installing everything.

You have mentioned an IDE hard drive - as this board only has one IDE connector (max connection of two devices), do not get an IDE (PATA) DVD Burner, this will slow your hard drive down to the DVD drive's speed. Make sure you get a SATA DVD drive - and I highly recommend grabbing a SATA hard drive also, they're much faster.

For RAM, you haven't mentioned how much you want, but it's reasonably cheap. Here's a nice 2x 1GB set, and here's a 2x 2GB set, there are other choices of course, so whatever tickles your fancy.

You mentioned you have purchased the Black Edition AMD CPU, is that correct? Do you have a heatsink/fan for this? The Black Edition CPUs do not come with one by default. If you want some input on this we can recommend a good one.

Cheers
