Trojan.win32.monderb.ads Hello and thank you in advance. I have this trojan and I am trying to follow the the procedure posted at the start of the forum. when I try to install the Malwarebytes my computer pops up a window that says : Problem encountered with Internet connection, (Arm 1054,12031) I thought it might be the Zone Alarm Firewall so I temporarily disabled it and still no luck. I am not sure how to proceed. Jeff

Lets see what I can do

Download & Run HijackThis.exe

  • Download HJTInstall.exe to your Desktop.
  • Doubleclick HJTInstall.exe to install it.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Copy/Paste the log to your next reply please.
Don't use the Analyse This button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
Don't have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

OK then to work ....

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [BMf7157ac8] Rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\xvjxacgh.dll",s
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [f4264954] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\kyakfqka.dll",b
O20 - AppInit_DLLs: rsqpdd.dll

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Close HiJackThis.

THEN

Please download the OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it.
  • Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\xvjxacgh.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\rsqpdd.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\kyakfqka.dll
    Purity
  • Return to OTMoveIt2, right click in the "Paste List of Files/Folders to be Moved" window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt2
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

FINALLY FOR NOW

Note : For XPSP3 read XPSP2

Please visit this web page for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix

http://www.bleepingc...to-use-combofix

This includes installing the Windows XP Recovery Console in case you have not installed it yet. It is imperative that you install this as it will enable a system recovery in the event of problems

For more information on the Windows XP Recovery Console read http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314058.

Once you install the Recovery Console, when you reboot your computer, you'll see the option for the Recovery Console now as well. Don't select Recovery Console as we don't need it. By default, your main OS is selected there. The screen stays for 2 seconds and then it proceeds to load Windows. That is normal.

Post the log from ComboFix when you've accomplished that, along with a new HijackThis log and the OTMoveit report.

I will now tackle the Combo fix. Sorry about the delay but my computer takes an extraordinarily long time to boot up. Another problem for another day. ( Its been like that for sometime now I don't think it is related to a virus )

Looks real good. Just one old quarantined file to move and then a registry sweep for orphans

  • Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it.
  • Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\opnKdedD.dll.vzr

THEN

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

How is your system running now ?

My system seems to be running fine, but I didn't notice much performance degradation just an occasional hijacked browser. Like I said earlier I do have some other issues with long boot up and I lose my internet connection if I leave my machine running for a long time. I will try to reboot and see if it has improved. Thanks again for all the help. This is a fantastic resource.
