Hello

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log in a reply to this thread.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

Please download Runscanner to your desktop and run it.
  • When the first page comes up select Beginner Mode
  • On the next page select Save a binary .Run file (Recommended) then click Start full scan at the top.
  • At this time Runscanner.exe may request access to the Internet through your firewall please allow it to do so, it will then run for two or three minutes.
  • On completion it will ask for a location to save the file and a name. It will do this for both the .run file and the log file
  • Call the .run file "Select a name" and save it to your desktop. You will see the .run file on your desktop. Upload that file here.

Hello

Download the attachment at the end of this post (this will be your runscanner file fixed by me)

  • Save it to your desktop then double click the runscanner icon this will run the program.
  • You will notice several entries in red and in blue.
  • Click the button at the top called Fix selected items
  • Accept the warning(s) and repeat until they are all gone.
  • Reboot your PC

Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.
  • If the first link fails you can download it from here as well.
  • Close all other windows before proceeding.
  • Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
  • If your anti-virus or firewall complains, please allow this script to run as it is not malicious.
  • When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.

Hello,

I ran the fix and rebooted, but as for the Deckard System Scanner, when I attempt to download it I get this message:

Deckard's System Scanner interacts with a specific rootkit (tdssserv) in a way that may make your system unusable (altering the svchost netsvcs registry entry). This download link has been removed until a fix is released by Deckard. For your own protection, please do not attempt to download this tool from other sites.

Do this

Please visit this web page for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix

http://www.bleepingc...to-use-combofix

This includes installing the Windows XP Recovery Console in case you have not installed it yet.

For more information on the Windows XP Recovery Console read http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314058.

Once you install the Recovery Console, when you reboot your computer, you'll see the option for the Recovery Console now as well. Don't select Recovery Console as we don't need it. By default, your main OS is selected there. The screen stays for 2 seconds and then it proceeds to load Windows. That is normal.

Post the log from ComboFix when you've accomplished that, along with a new HijackThis log.

Hello

1. Close any open browsers.

2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

3. Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

File::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\f14rs.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\cliconfgs.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\xvrxacrc.tmp
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ciadvss.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ftps.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rar.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\chkdskss.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\chkdsks.exe

Filelook::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\null

Folder::

Registry::

Driver::

Save this as CFScript.txt, in the same location as ComboFix.exe

Posted Image

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe

When finished, it shall produce a log for you at C:\ComboFix.txt which I will require in your next reply.

  • Make sure to use Internet Explorer for this
  • Please go to VirSCAN.org FREE on-line scan service
  • Copy and paste the following file path into the "Suspicious files to scan" box on the top of the page:

    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\null
  • Click on the Upload button
  • Once the Scan is completed, click on the "Copy to Clipboard" button. This will copy the link of the report into the Clipboard.
  • Paste the contents of the Clipboard in your next reply.

Hello,

I tried to run the combofix script three times upwards of eight hours each run, but the program froze at different points during each attempt.

as for the virus scan, i tried to upload the specified file, but the site told me it could not be found. I'm going to attempt the combofix one last time, hopefully i'll post some results shortly.

Try this

Please download the OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it.
  • Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    [kill explorer]
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\f14rs.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\cliconfgs.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\xvrxacrc.tmp
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ciadvss.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ftps.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\rar.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\chkdskss.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\chkdsks.exe
    purity
    EmptyTemp
    [start explorer]
  • Return to OTMoveIt2, right click in the "Paste List of Files/Folders to Move" window (under the light Yellow bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • A log of files and folders moved will be created in the c:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder in the form of Date and Time (mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log). Please open this log in Notepad and post its contents in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt2
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Please download FileLook by jpshortstuff from one of these mirrors:
Link 1
Link 2
  • Double-click FileLook.exe to run it.
  • Ensure that the BBCode Ouput checkbox is checked.
  • Copy the content of the following codebox into the main textfield:

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\null
  • Click the FileLook button to start the scan.
  • When finished, a notepad window will open with the results of the scan. Please post this log in your next reply.
Note: The log can also be found at C:\fl_log.txt

Since I ran those programs, however, my internet is frozen until my explorer shuts itself off. I can navigate online after it quits, and any windows already open I can alt+tab over to, but the desktop and start menu are gone.

Oh, also on startup an IE window pops up looking for ftps.exe, and an error pops up when it can't find it. That's usually when the internet freezes, etc. as well.

Delete ComboFix.exe and the folders C:\ComboFix and C:\qoobox

Re-download ComboFix and run it again
