I scanned the system using hijackthis and got the entries which somewhat matched with those in a post relating to solution given by tampabelle to corey b which seemed similiar to this problem. but i dont have the myway search assistant thing in my system.
I removed all yahoo products from my system and scanned again with hijackthis which resulted in the loss of an entry somewhat like
R3-urlsearchhook:(yahoo).........
and the entry for O2:BHO :(yahoo).........became O2:BHO:(no name)..........
The detailed log for the current status is :-
