Remote Access Connection issues

Today I was trying to use my blackberry curve as a modem for my laptop. In doing so I ran into an issue I can't seem to find help with. After speaking with T-Mobiles tech help I found it to be an issue with the remote access connection manager failing to start. Telephony is started but I can't get the remote access auto connection or connection managers to start.

How I got to this point is I was trying to creat a new connection and after I chose to connect to the internet and then set up the connection manually the only option I could choose was to connect to a broadband connection. The dial-up and vpn connection options were grayed out. I've tried restoring my computer to the earliest setting but to no help. Any ideas? Sorry if I left out pertinent information. Ask and ill supply. Thanks!
