I have follwed the rules about using ATF cleaner, system restore, Mawarebyte Anti Malware, etc.

My problem is that it takes a real long time for my computer to strat up. I turn it on and its not until about five minutes later before I can work on it, access the internet, etc. If it matters, I run Windows XP. Below are my HiJack This log and my Mawarebyte Anti Malware log. Thanks so much for your help!

Here is my HiHack This log:

Hi there and sorry for the delay. May I take a deeper look at your system

Download OTScanit to your Desktop and double-click on it to extract the files. It will create a folder named OTScanIt on your desktop.
  • Close ALL OTHER PROGRAMS.
  • Open the OTScanit folder and double-click on OTScanit.exe to start the program.
  • Check the box that says Scan All User Accounts
  • Check the Radio buttons for Files/Folders Created Within 90 Days and Files/Folders Modified Within 90 Days
  • Under Additional Scans check the following:
    • Reg - BotCheck
    • File - Additional Folder Scans
    • File - Purity Scan
  • Now click the Run Scan button on the toolbar.
  • Let it run unhindered until it finishes.
  • When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
  • Click the Format menu and make sure that Wordwrap is not checked. If it is then click on it to uncheck it.
Please attach the log in your next post.

To attach a file, do the following:
  • Click Add Reply
  • Under the reply panel is the Attachments Panel
  • Browse for the attachment file you want to upload, then click the green Upload button
  • Once it has uploaded, click the Manage Current Attachments drop down box
  • Click on Posted Image to insert the attachment into your post

Hi there is no malware apparent. However you do have a lot of items starting with your computer. Lets trim them down and go for a spring clean and see what that does..

To that end could I have a new Hijackthis log.. Ensuring that wordwrap is not selected (it is easier to read that way )

When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
Click the Format menu and make sure that Wordwrap is not checked. If it is then click on it to uncheck it.

Hi there, the following are not essential for startup. I will remove them via Hiajckthis so if you need to re-instate them at a later date it can be done via the backup section

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_05\bin\jusched.exe"

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Close HiJackThis.

To restore the backups:

  • Open HiJackThis
  • Click on "View the list of Backups"
  • Place a check mark next to everything in that window
  • Click Restore
  • Click Yes
  • Reboot your computer
