Hi, I am have an awful time fixing my computer from adware. I have tried Spyware Doctor, Seach and Destroy, Ad Ware SE person, windows updates, deleting things, everything. I get most of it off with Spyware Doc, but it won't get rid of "I search Desktop Tool Bar". The spayware just keeps coming back, no matter how many times i run any of the ad ware programs. Ineternet Explorer won't even open anymore, The task bar manager is not even working now (the top of the window, where you can pick to end procceses,) isn't even there anymore. The CPU usage goes up to 100% and freezes. Even after i DL netscape, the internet still gets all messed up and random spyware is found. please help.. here is my Hijack this log.
Please help, i have been trying for weeks to do it on my own, but its getting hopeless. Thanks
Sara

Hello,

That is a real nasty infection you have in here... and it smells like Bube. So, please read and perform next instructions very carefully:

How to Remove Bubed aka Win32Beavis

When done, post back a new hijackthislog together with the log from Kaspersky.

If you followed the link I gave you.. you'll see in the last picture there how the show the log.
Did you kill explorer before performing the scan and performed the scan in safe mode? Because that was the most important thing in it.

Anyway, let's see what comes back afterwards.

Download and install CleanUp!
Do not use it yet.

* Reboot into Safe Mode`:
°To get into the Safe mode as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key". Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.

* Download DelDomains.inf and save it to your desktop.

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\WINDOWS\about.htm
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

* Rightclick on Deldomains you downloaded earlier and choose 'install'.

* Start CleanUp! Click the CleanUp-button.
When done, close it and it will ask you to log off. Click ok.

* Reboot your system back to normal mode.

Post back a fresh HijackThis log and I'll take another look.

Ok..

Also check and fix next item in hijackthis again:

O16 - DPF: {32F731FD-8131-067C-CFB6-111F041079A4} - http://67.19.178.86/1/rdgUS1742.exe

REBOOT and post a new hijackthislog made in NORMAL mode, because it seems like the above log was made in safe mode. :tazz:

Good your taskmanager is fixed again and things are running much smoother.

Actually, your hijackthislog also looks clean again!

Perform a full scan with an updated Adaware SE and/or Spybot S&D to get rid of the leftovers.
Then..

An important thing to do is please disable your systemrestore.(note: this will delete all your system restore points and malware that were present in it).
How to disable system restore in XP
Reboot.. and after rebooting, enable it again, so a new systemrestorepoint will be made. A clean one now! :tazz:

To keep this clean in the future, I would suggest the following things:

Install Spywareblaster
SpywareBlaster doesn`t scan and clean for so-called spyware, but prevents it from being installed in the first place. It blocks the popular spyware ActiveX controls, and also prevents the installation of any of them via a webpage.

Let your antispywarescanner(s) scan frequently and don't forget to update before.

And I do suggest you perform an online virusscan once in a while. (Etrust and/or Bitdefender). Because what one virusscanner can't find another one maybe can.
Also make sure that your virusscanner, the one that is installed on your system is always up to date!

Make sure your windows has the latest updates: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

More info on how to prevent malware you can also find here (By Tony Klein)

Happy surfing again!
