I have followed the malware removal steps on my computer. The AntiMalware software identified 138 malicious itmes. All scans run clean now but the computer continues to lock up especially on the internet. Also there is a signficant delay when I type.

Hi there and sorry for the delay. I would like a deeper look at your system

Download OTScanit to your Desktop and double-click on it to extract the files. It will create a folder named OTScanIt on your desktop.
  • Close ALL OTHER PROGRAMS.
  • Open the OTScanit folder and double-click on OTScanit.exe to start the program.
  • Check the box that says Scan All User Accounts
  • Check the Radio buttons for Files/Folders Created Within 90 Days and Files/Folders Modified Within 90 Days
  • Under Additional Scans check the following:
    • Reg - BotCheck
    • File - Additional Folder Scans
    • File - Purity Scan
  • Now click the Run Scan button on the toolbar.
  • Let it run unhindered until it finishes.
  • When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
  • Click the Format menu and make sure that Wordwrap is not checked. If it is then click on it to uncheck it.
Please attach the log in your next post.

To attach a file, do the following:
  • Click Add Reply
  • Under the reply panel is the Attachments Panel
  • Browse for the attachment file you want to upload, then click the green Upload button
  • Once it has uploaded, click the Manage Current Attachments drop down box
  • Click on Posted Image to insert the attachment into your post

Not a great deal showing there

Start OTScanit. Copy/Paste the information in the quotebox below into the pane where it says "Paste fix here" and then click the Run Fix button.

[Unregister Dlls]
[Files/Folders - Created Within 90 days]
NY -> cpnprt2.cid -> %SystemRoot%\System32\cpnprt2.cid
[Files Created - Additional Folder Scans - Non-Microsoft Only]
NY -> Coupons -> %ProgramFiles%\Coupons
[Files/Folders - Modified Within 90 days]
NY -> cpnprt2.cid -> %SystemRoot%\System32\cpnprt2.cid
NY -> CouponPrinter.ocx -> %SystemRoot%\CouponPrinter.ocx
[Empty Temp Folders]

The fix should only take a very short time. When the fix is completed a message box will popup telling you that it is finished. Click the Ok button and Notepad will open with a log of actions taken during the fix. Post that information back here along with a new Hijackthis log.

I will review the information when it comes back in.

Also let me know of any problems you encountered performing the steps above or any continuing problems you are still having with the computer.

THEN

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

Logs required : OTSCanit report and MBAM plus what symtoms are you experiencing after the fix

Problems:

1.Typing is delayed. I hit a key and there is a few seconds until the letter or number appears.
2. Computer locks on on internet and I have to CTRL ALT DEL to unfreeze. Usually have to restart.
3. Shutting down system has many errors: PTA WIA End Program box. Dwwin.exe dll initialization failed message and sw:acroRd32.exe End program box all appear.

When I run Sypot I get a message saying there is an error with Trojan.sbi here's the log from the last report:

Cookies are a fact of life, you will always get them if you want the net to work properly

All steps were followed with success:I have 896 MB Ram on the system.

The defrag fround 107 fraged files and defraged them

It also said I had 965 Junk Files Found but when I clcked on the scan and remove it brought me to another software download which I wasn't sure I was supposed to do.

THe computer is not locking up as much. There is still a delay in typing. I can type an entire sentence before the first words show up on the screen. I ran Avast at boot up and it said "Error 42146 Installer archive is corrupoted." Avast runs clean when run not at boot time.

thanks again for the help.

Sorry I forgot it had that nag screen I just ignore it :)

You could try a repair of Avast. Go to add/remove programmes and select Avast - if you scroll down on the left there will be a repair function (...you will need to be online for this)

Apart from that I can see no malware on your system, the RAM seems sufficient for general use. I will remove my tools and have a think about this

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean :)

A good workman allways cleans up after himself so...Download and run this small programme and hit the cleanup button. It will remove all the programmes we have used plus itself

Now to get you off to a good start we will clean your restore points so that all the bad stuff is gone for good. Then if you need to restore at some stage you will be clean. There are several ways to reset your restore points, but this is my method:
  • Select Start > All Programs > Accessories > System tools > System Restore.
  • On the dialogue box that appears select Create a Restore Point
  • Click NEXT
  • Enter a name e.g. Clean
  • Click CREATE
You now have a clean restore point, to get rid of the bad ones:
  • Select Start > All Programs > Accessories > System tools > Disk Cleanup.
  • In the Drop down box that appears select your main drive e.g. C
  • Click OK
  • The System will do some calculation and the display a dialogue box with TABS
  • Select the More Options Tab.
  • At the bottom will be a system restore box with a CLEANUP button click this
  • Accept the Warning and select OK again, the program will close and you are done

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free program: It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated.

To keep your operating system up to date visit

To learn more about how to protect yourself while on the internet read our little guide How did I get infected in the first place ?
Keep safe :)
