Hoping I'm in the right forum - if not please advise and will follow instructions

I'm using XP and IE [not sure what else to describe my system]

Just noticed this Critcal alert s-ware removal on my task bar

Did a google and found that this s/ware removal thingy on my taskbar is itself
a virus or spyware- correct?

How much if any damage is happening to my system??]

From reading this site - it appears it's removal with assistance
by using Hijack

Can I paste the directions in my files and come back later
or is it critical to remove immediately. If so - will do.

In the process of following your lead - I now notice that the taskbar link has disappeared!
Should I proceed as if it is still in my PC?

Absolutely, it is always a good idea to double check although the taskbar link has gone that doesn't mean the malware has gone so I would choose to get a once over in the malware forum
