Windows XP Home Edition SP2, one user, no passwords, has always started up correctly direct to the Desktop. Out of the blue, now boots to Login Screen with one user. When user is clicked on, it momentarily says "loading user settings" then immediately "logging off" looping right back to where it was. Safe Mode with Command Prompt does the same thing, except also has Administrator, which does the very same thing as the one user.

Did a Windows Repair with NO change.

If I could run Control Userpasswords2 it would seem unchecking the login requirement could bypass this problem. I don't know anyway to do that. I can get on the Recovery Console as Administrator, but the available commands won't let me run any apps (I presume it is because it is too low level). Is there anyway to do this - or are there any other ways to fix this problem.
